Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was poor. Service was slow - they didn't seem to have enough staff. Some items from the self-service selection ran out and were not replaced eg fresh fruit & croissants. There was a single 4 slice toaster to cater for all guests, so there were long queues to get toast. Cooked breakfasts had to be ordered through the waitress, and according to the menu these were freshly cooked. This was far from true. The bacon was dry and overcooked. Both of us had asked for runny fried eggs however the yolks were completely solid (they had obviously been sat under a warming lamp for some considerable time). If I were a chef I would have been embarrassed to serve this. We did send the eggs back and acceptable replacements were then received. Portions were also a bit on the small side. Although the bedroom was very nice, there was no plug socket anywhere near the dressing table or mirror which made using the hair dryer difficult. I had to move the mirror from the dressing table over to the TV table and use the dryer there.
We booked a standard double but were allocated a cottage in the annex. This was spacious and set over 2 stories and had a lounge/diner and fully equipped kitchen. Much nicer accommodation than on our previous visits

United KingdomAccommodation was not what we expected. It was in a separate building and spread over two floors joined by a spiral staircase. For older people with joint problems this can be a serious issue and should be made clear in the room description when booking. Could also be a problem with young children. The approach to the room was via a very unkempt courtyard past a skip and was unattractive. The doorstep was partly rotted away and although the bedding and towels were clean there was an air of mustiness. Some lighting didn't work. The dining room in the main building was fine but the hotel generally looked in need of some TLC. A shame because the hotel has such potential. If I stayed again I would check out exactly what type of room I was booking.
Great location close to town with easy parking. Breakfast was good and also enjoyed the evening meal we had there. Staff were pleasant.

United KingdomWe requested rooms close to each other. The rooms we had couldn't have been further away from one another, not even in the same building. Caused a little bit of anxiety as my elderly mother was far away from us. Dog friendly room had a spirial staircase which was ok, but we had to barricade the top in case the dogs went down it unsupervised during the night. Hotel could do with some updating, but on the whole it was ok.
Staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Had a nice evening meal in the bar area, but advertised Sunday roast had run out by 6pm on Sunday evening.

United KingdomThe only remark was that there were no toilet rolls at the room, I had to ask for it at the reception.
Everything was fine, although a bit pricey.

United KingdomReally would have preferred to have stayed in the main building, where we stated was adequate.
Plenty of choice for breakfast pleasant staff at all times I had thought our room would be in the Hotel it was an outside room which certainly needs re vamping now the outside door frame into the room certainly needs replacing quite rotten and the carpet quite badly stained in the living room area. Furniture of good quality, the bed has a foot board which is not great when you are over 6ft tall...my personal grouse why is there not king sized beds in all established hotels Guest rooms etc.these days for better comfort double beds are so outdated!

NamibiaIt was very sad to look out on the back, parking and garbage can. I do understand as we booked through Booking.com and not direct. What I don't understand is the flooring. Uneven floors, fine. Now tiles, then worn carpet, then wood floors. Why not stick to an authentic look? It can be made so so stunning inside, but is really shabby. And suddenly, around a corner, you find drawings of sea creatures... Totally out of place. Nothing serious. It's just that one look forward to stay in the oldest hotel in Wales and then find the inside very disappointing
The staff, coffee and food were excellent. The location and view are stunning Some old lighting, wood floors and paintings are too.

United KingdomThe place was just very tired. 10 years overdue a make-over. The rooms in the annexe were weird with a lounge, dining room and kitchen with a spiral staircase to lead to a bedroom with a double and a single bed and a bath with a shower. If I had taken my wife, she would have struggled with the bath and getting to the bedroom. As it was it worked for me. Just not a style of room I had ever stayed in before. Probably a design from the 1990's at best. The main building was dated and let down by how tired it all looked.
The location was excellent and the bar good with a nice garden to sit in. The breakfast was good. The staff were all good and the room very clean.

United KingdomWould have liked a blind over the skylight in the cottage to shut out the light. The peeling paint. The main light bulb needed replacing in the bathroom in room 48 but it never was, in spite of it being promised by staff. Disappointment in having to wait well over an hour to be served in the restaurant one evening due to there being one chef only. It seemed as if there was a lack of contingency plans by management, and the waiting staff were clearly uncomfortable with having to apologise.
Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice in a lovely room. It was good to be able to walk into town in a few minutes from the hotel, round the corner and over the bridge.
