It could do with some refurbishment in the cottages attached to the hotel.

Room 31 pretty dreadful. Patched ceiling. Dirty and cracked window frames. Very badly frayed carpet. Needs a complete revamp. Obviously short of staff at breakfast. Delay in taking order. Tables around us not cleared.

Downstairs and public areas generally good. Dinner good. Outside area (lawn) good.

I just loved the Castle Hotel. Fantastic history and a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were good. My room had all I could want and I found it very comfortable.I don't have any negatives

The accommodation we were provided could do with some modernisation. Which we believe is in progress.

Location was excellent, with stunning views. We stayed with in one of the apartments which was spacious and well stocked with utilities etc.

For a superior room it laked for example windows very poor no ventilation carpets in a state we have stayed here before but Badley needs attention in some things.we understand that talks are ongoing for refurbishment can't come to soon

Whilst it was noted and suggested upgrades were progressing I suspect that the owners had not themselves visited for sometime as much I consider could fairly inexpensively have been acted on. Ingrained carpets could have been at least received attention and even a rudimentry coat of paint on the exterior would have improved appearence. The provision of an extension lead for some of the room electrics may also represent an issue.

Some locations within the hotel needs some upgrading, there are areas where extreme damp is highly visible. The entrance into the hotel has some very bad cracked tiles which in my opinion is quite dangerous. The hotel could be really lovely with a bit of cash injection into it's appearance. With breakfast a pot of tea instead of a pump tea container would be better.

The location was good and could park the car from when we arrived at 12.00. Staff very friendly and helpful. The superior room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good.

What really lets the hotel down is the condition of the exterior. Scuffed paintwork, some rotton timber in door and window frames, discoloured render on the walls, a large rubbish skip in a prominent position, overgrown garden areas and last autumn's leaves still on the ground in mid-April. It makes the hotel look tired and uncared-for; which, considering the good condition of the interior, the helpfulness of the staff and the good food, is a real shame.

The staff were most helpful and pleasant. The room was reasonable, though there was no view and if I'd had to spend much time in it, it would have been rather depressing.

The place is tired, and the expected upgrade has been postponed. The same notice is in the rooms that were in them when I was last there 8 months ago.

I love the spectacular views of the Bannau Brycheiniog.
