We were on 3rd floor but no lift. Hotel in need of a face-lift.

Nice location. Bus service into Edinburgh stops outside. Easy walk to local restaurants. Comfortable beds. Reasonable value given proximity to Edinburgh, but room was very small.

Not much, i didnt see a lift- for disabled guests, and our water from the bar in the room did not work- not serious becuase we had a bathroom- with everything functioning properly.

After our first B+B this location was pure luxury. The room was large, had an ensuite bathroom ( not like our previous b+b), was very clean with 2 comfy single beds.Dinner was also great , good waiting, good food, also for a nice price- but when one is on holidays, one can afford to pay bit more for good food and service.Location was great , in the hills above the main town, a bit out of the way- with a car parking spot right outside the front door. Highly recommendable.

Unfortunately the menus on line were not accurate. We intended to stay and eat in the hotel - but on arrival the menus were different and didn’t offer the vegan options advertised. Had to make last minute plans to eat out which was difficult being a Saturday night

Hotel was lovely, clean, spacey room. Shower was elite! Hotel staff were exceptional - especially El who helped get out luggage to the room.

It would be great to have a wider menu for breakfast, we missed scramble, hash brown. In our room the head of the bed requires renovation (attached photo)

We liked the interior, special thank for paintings on the walls in the corridor. Also the hotel has free parking with a lot of space.

I wish breakfast started a bit earlier.

The room was very spacious. The bed was large. It was exactly what we needed after a long day of walking. There was a bus pickup right next to it which was really convenient.

The property had great character, but was a little 'tired'. Some general maintenance (couldn't open windows, no window covering on bay windows) would have made it perfect.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant had wonderful selections. The location on the fringes of Edinburgh was a great way to have some peace and quiet.

Beautiful older style property with a lovely large room (thanks for the upgrade!) and lovely parkland outlook. A bit out of Edinburgh but we stayed before an early morning flight - easy 15 min drive to the airport. Has a lovely outdoor deck - we ate inside and enjoyed our meal - also free parking on site!

A slight gripe was our walk through to the function room as the shortest route to our room. No problem, except when there was a function taking place. We have slight health problems and were 'footsore and weary.' However, this in no way diminished the enjoyment of our stay. The breakfast buffet, whilst adequate, did not have grapefruit, However, it is appreciated that people on certain types of medication cannot have grapefruit so I can understand why this is not available. Braid Hills is a brilliant hotel, in a fantastic location. Some of the carpets in a couple of the connecting corridors may be a little tired but this is a busy hotel and that can be easily remedied when required. The public rooms - dining, reception area, toilets - are absolutely spotless and well-decorated. We loved our spacious room - again, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The centre blind in the window was not working but we improvised with that. Ours was a short stay, for our granddaughter's graduation. We stayed at Braid Hills on the recommendation of our family and would, in turn, recommend the hotel to our friends.

The staff were exceptional. Wonderful, efficient, and friendly. A credit to the hotel. We would especially like to highlight our great receptionist, who was so helpful throughout our short stay. We had left a carry-on bag behind whilst going to board the taxi, and had started on our journey to the airport when we got a phone call from them and were able to turn back immediately, saving us a lot of bother. Please pass on our special thanks. Also to the member of staff who saw us, struggling, hot and bothered, to get our cases down the short set of stairs to the function room on our departure. The lady offered to help and sorted that for us. The cleaning staff whom we encountered were cordial and friendly.

You need scrambled eggs at your breakfast buffet.

The room was VERY quiet at night; sleeping with the windows open is my definition of vacation :-)

Fittings in room and some furniture were quite tired and damaged, and generally gave the impression of poor quality, although bed was comfortable enough. Bathroom shower was a bit awkward to use for a larger person and slippery being in the bathtub.

Convenient to public transport into city and a decent sized room. Decent breakfast and generally a quiet location
