The discretionary service charge was very excessive considering how much it cost to start with.

The staff service was exceptional. Very helpful and informative. My partner has several allergies when it comes to food and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate her needs...

The main restaurant was not open for dinner on either Sunday or Monday ( both nights of our stay). The food in the Brasserie is not '5* Hotel quality. We went to the local pub for dinner on the second night which was superior to the dinner we had on Sunday evening.

Order teas & coffee in the cathedral room but they never came. Limited facilities in the swimming pool, outdoor spa/hot tub would be the icing on the cake

We stayed in a lodge and it was fabulous. Plenty of space and beautiful bedrooms. Hotel is magnificent and the meal in the Great Western Grille superb

I felt that the breakfast was over-priced, £56 for 2 people, I had the American pancakes and got 2 small pancakes which seemed a bit stingy given the price.

Liked everything about our stay.

Ammenities were awesome; pool, steam room, food, tennis, chooks, car parking, walking paths and room. Very clean, helpful staff, excellent activities offered on site. Excellent wifi. Very relaxing stay. Super comfortable room. Quiet and spacious. Car parking was on site. Stunning grounds. Beautiful views. Impressed by the driving instructions on the website to prevent visitors from following car sat navigation and getting lost. This was a life saver for us, as international drivers. I’m happy Bovey Castle had an awareness about the issues with car sat navigation systems and supported visitors arriving safely with clearly instructions. I wish more accomodation gave driving instructions and found this was an another excellent customer care. The hot chocolate in the room was outstanding.

Popcorn was put in the room and sadly it was stale, but I told them and I know it will be put right. The shower tray didn't empty so water went on to the floor, but again I know it will be sorted.

Steam room in spa wasn’t warm enough or giving out any steam. Sauna fine and nice length pool but separate warm jacuzzi would have been better than cold bubbles section at end of swimming pool.

The only bugbear was that the lift, closest to our room (Room 29), was out of order and, apparently has been for quite a while.

Our room was beautiful, bathroom and sleeping area exceptionally clean. crispy white bed linen, large fluffy towels, good selection of toiletries. Staff - without exception - were friendly and attentive. Food was divine in the restaurants. Good breakfast selection

The rain... happened to visit during a 36 hour 100% chance of rain weather alert... however, this did not take away from our adventure and very much loved our private sloe gin and cider making adventure!

This facility is absolutely stunning and very charming. We visited as part of our 36th wedding anniversary to get away from the big city atmosphere and we're so glad to have chosen this wonderful location as part of our European Holiday! WE WILL BE BACK!!

Communication to organise the activities was rather lacking. No pricing on the breakfast which was not exactly value for money when I received the bill at the end of the stay.

Beautiful setting and lovely staff. In particular, Isaac who ran the shooting, Rob and Paul on the bar (although all the bar staff were excellent), and Anna and Daisy in the spa. They could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. It was a trip to celebrate a special occasion and they went out of their way to give us a really nice welcome.

We liked everything

The entire experience was absolutely delightful. The hotel staff went above and beyond, exuding warmth and kindness at every turn. Amy at the reception was incredibly accommodating, while Alisa and Charlet expertly handled all our bookings, from arranging activities to making dining reservations. The restaurant staff were truly outstanding; they displayed remarkable patience and kindness in helping young children with their meal selections. Without a doubt, this hotel ranks among the finest we have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
