Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo - one on reception when I arrived, which I felt could be a potential security risk. No lift but fortunately my suitcase had already been delivered to my room ( otherwise I would have struggled, being a mature lady ). A letter left with my key informed me that due to the hotel chef having left, there would be no restaurant or bar provision. I'd already read on booking that there would be no restaurant available in the evening but the absence of a staffed bar was a total surprise. The local village pub (with which I am familiar), offers a pizza menu on Sundays, so I went there to eat. I was fortunate to have a lift there ( I don't own a car ) but not back. There are only 2 local taxi companies, with few drivers and I failed to secure a booking to return. This meant I had to walk back ( only about 10 minutes ), which had there been a pavement or grass verge the whole way, would have been no trouble at all. Unfortunately there are neither for most of the route ( there's only a few yards of a grass verge, nearest to the hotel driveway ). The next morning I had to get to the bus stop, with my luggage, to catch a bus to Cardiff. Once again, no taxis were available, as they were fully booked. A member of the hotel staff very kindly offered me a lift to the bus stop. Unfortunately, I'd been given incorrect bus times by a bus driver, which I discovered by checking online and phoning Brecon Tourist Information. This meant that my next available bus was after the member of staff had finished her shift and gone home. So no lift was available. When I reached the grass verge on the road, I managed to hitch a lift to the bus stop ( just beyond the village pub ),for which I was most grateful ! I would urge anyone going to Glasbury or Hay - on - Wye, via public transport, to pre book all their taxi cab journeys, well in advance, unless you are comfortable walking on roads with no pavements or verges, or hitch - hiking.
Beautiful peaceful location, attractive converted barn buildings and very pleasant helpful staff. My suitcase was dropped at the hotel prior to check in time, as I was attending the Hay Festival that day ( as I had done for several days prior ) and moving out of a friend's house that morning. Staff kindly put my suitcase in my room. Comfortable bed and armchair in room. Spotlessly clean bathroom. Good choice of breakfast items.

United KingdomThe room was a little small and had very small windows but I’m guessing it was a barn conversion and they wanted to preserve the original features.
Very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, very pleasant staff.

United KingdomLovely location and the hotel is absolutely lovely. The room was spacious, clean, and had tea/coffee making facilities. Everything you need for your stay. The restaurant was also lovely, and the food was 100%. The portion sizes were more than enough, and the food was absolutely delicious, including breakfast. Excellent value for money and the lovely lady serving us, and the bar was very welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Nothing was too much trouble, and she ensured we had everything we wanted to enjoy our meals. I would deffinatly recommend and will certainly be coming back. Thank you for a lovely experience. Also the bathroom mirror connected to our phone so we could listen to music which was a bonus!

United KingdomWas a bit cold on arrival - but in fairness the temperatures that day had plummeted since the previous days so I think they had simply forgot to adjust the heating. Once pointed out, this was quickly remedied and was then toasty.
Beautiful well appointed rooms, rural location, plenty of parking and fabulous breakfast.

United KingdomI understand that staff do not work around the clock but it did feel slightly eery that we didn't greet a member of staff until breakfast the following morning. Location is great if you have a car but if you want to book a taxi you need to book ahead otherwise you may not get into or out of Hay-on-Wye (the hotel is in Glasbury). The room was slightly small but provided everything necessary (bath, comfy bed, tea and coffee station).
We arrived in the afternoon. There were no staff to greet us but we were provided with a key and a letter to describe the hotel and facilities. The hotel was incredibly quiet, we went off-season and there were only two other rooms that were booked. It's not on a busy road, it's in a rural location which meant it was not noisy. The breakfast was amazing, great quality ingredients that came hot and a good sized portion. It's about a 5-minute drive from Hay-on-Wye.

United KingdomWas closer to the main road than I expected. The grounds weren't quite as extensive as we'd hoped for wandering with the kids, we also got told off for wandering in the back part which is away from the main road, which was a shame, just as the kids were enjoying exploring. No music in the bar or restaurant, was super quiet when we were there so no atmosphere at all. Quite a few things were broken in our room. The armchair leg, the jacuzzi bath which the kids were gutted about. But it was very clean fairplay. They loved the bidet! Most staff were very friendly.
Once some confusion with our room was sorted, we loved our room. It was big enough for the kids to enjoy & not get too bored. A brilliantly sized bathroom with bath that was very handy. Lots of windows which is hard to come by in hotels these days, including in the bathroom. I would recommend ensuring you stay in the main building. Although the other barn had refurbished rooms, it didn't have the quirk or warmth of the main building. Really nice breakfast. Loved the ducks in the pond, kids loved them. The bar and lounge bit is brilliantly set up. Loadsa of toys for the kids and a really well set up bar. The whole place is thoughtfully designed & well finished. Close proximity to Hay.
