Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOur bathroom wasn't in the room, it was just opposite the room. We did have a key for it but it wasn't ideal really, there are no hooks within that bathroom so you have to put everything on the floor and obviously in the night it is a pain. The room was very small, I appreciate you can't help room sizes in an old building though, was just shocked by the price paid for such a small space. The bed is placed right on a sloping ceiling and my partner banged his head quite a lot when manoeuvring around the bed. We couldn't open the window due to it being opposite the roof vents for the kitchen, they were very loud and pumped old food smell into the room. The noise stopped just after 21:00 and we were then able to have the windows open but it started up again at 07:50. I think it could do with an update when it comes to the bathroom as it was very dated although it had been painted over. I would stay again but I would request to not be in room 12.
The location is central. Free parking was a bonus, it is first come first served but we were early and able to park up. To be able to not have to get into the car again to go anywhere as we could just walk everywhere was great. The staff are all lovely and breakfast was great and nicely set up. Have seen some complaining that they had to do their own toast but this was fine and proper toasters are provided, it means you can do it as you like. The building has character as it is charming. Lots of tea and coffee in the room.

United KingdomShouty breakfast waitress, dirty bar glasses, no top up tea from bar and being blocked in the car park by staff
We booked a double with a bathroom across the hall however on arrival we we offered a twin en suite which was good. The room was small but we appreciate it's a very old Inn and alterations are not always possible. Room was well equipped, great tea tray! Amazing beds, feather quilts, so lush! Private parking although blocked in by the chef the next morning , luckily we had a late departure. The bar area and snug are cosy and we had a drink before exploring, served in a marked glass. We were told earlier that tea and coffee for the room could be topped up from the bar, there was only sugar and decaff available. The breakfast menu was good and plentiful although we weren't made aware of the deviations available to the table next to us who had smashed avocado poached eggs on toast and porridge. My advice is if it isn't on the menu- ask! Overall it's good value for money and a good night's sleep so would stay here again. Our critical eye is due to 30 years in this industry!

United KingdomBeing an old building, it was a little chilly. Having a blanket in the room for those of us who feel the cold would have been a welcome addition.
The location was as stated: within a short walking distance from shops and tourist attractions. The beds were extremely comfortable (much more than the big chain hotel we stayed in the week before) and the pillows were of exceptional quality. There was a good variety of choices for breakfast, where you could order something from the menu and help yourself from the buffet too. Staff were pleasant and attentive; we arrived early and were able to check in before the specified time, which was much appreciated after a long journey.

United KingdomAccess to the rooms on the top floor is difficult for those who are frail or less mobile.
The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. In particular the chef/maintenance man went beyond expectation by helping to solve a last minute problem involving the car key fob. The hotel has parking and is ideal for seeing Richmond on foot. The breakfast is plentiful, and there is a good selection of lunch and evening meals. The bed was very comfortable.
