Really thin walls so could hear adjacent room snoring and disco downstairs until midnight on the Friday. Dirty glasses and mildew smell in bathroom as no extractor fan.

The room had a number of failings. The shower was rather inadequate with poor pressure and rather variable temperature. The lavatory seat was wobbly. My wife woul have liked a full length mirror. There was a green light on all night

Breakfast was excellent if a little over generous. The staff really helpful and friendly. It’s a nice building with plenty of parking in a pleasant area.

Having to leave

Bit of a wait for dinner as the restaurant was very busy but good food when we were served.

Excellent hotel, would recommend it to anyone travelling South. Beautiful room, clean, well furnished and with everything you need for an overnight stay. Most importantly very quiet for a great night's sleep. Very friendly staff, especially Ellie, and a great breakfast.

Extractor fan noise cutting in and out below through the night. We were in Room 8. As a guest would have liked a drink at 10.30pm after theatre but Bar closes early on a Thursday.

Service and food was good. Convenient location for Tolethorpe Theatre - 15 mins.

Hand driers below in toilets very noisy. A comfortable chair in the room would have been appreciated.

Doors were heavy to push open -fire doors I believe so that is understandable.

Located in a lovely village, the inn served a good English breakfast. My room was spacious, clean and nicley decorated. The area is quiet so no trouble sleeping. Good beer too. I had my dinner there , a nice Fish and Chips followed by Cheese cake-all good.

Soundproofing between bedrooms a little bit wanting but we were there at a quiet time so it didn’t matter too much!

I cannot sleep when there is light, room had three skylights which made it fantastic when I first saw it but meant that I woke up very early - only downside for me.

First impression of room 'WOW'. Everyone nice and friendly. Good food.

My room was amazing at first sight but it had 3 velux windows with no blinds! Obviously this had a impact on my sleep due to it being exposed to the light! With a 4 hour drive home the next day wasn’t ideal!

Breakfast was as expected - the only exception being the fried eggs - we had ham egg and chips at dinner and eggs at breakfast - none of which were fried as you would expect for a professional kitchen - all were verging on hard if I had cooked them I would not have sent them out - it was also not very busy so not rushed. It also it would have been nice if breakfast had been served a little later but finished at 9.00.

Easy to find with good parking and reasonably priced- within easy reach of Peterborough our destination the next day.
