Our mid week stay was fantastic. We made the most of the indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, sauna and steam. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and restaurant staff were very attentive to make sure our needs were met.

The dinner we had in the restaurant wasn’t great, but service was still good. Also the changing rooms in the spa were very dated and could use updating

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and the service we impeccable. This surpasses my expectations and was a truly wonderful stay. Room were a good size, I like the high end touches such as a dyson hairdryer and a great bathroom. Breakfast was exceptional- high quality food. Spa was lovely too.

The location was good for the purposes of my visit. The room was very comfortable with good wifi. The staff were always courteous and helpful. I liked the tea and cake in the comfortable sitting rooms. The hotel is surrounded by fields and woods - very pleasant.

The electrics kept going in various parts of the hotel. Not sure what that was about but the bedroom lights kept flickering and the ones in the dining room too. But not a major issue. The pool door being opened to the outside gardens meant that the pool was really too chilly to lounge around. It didn't bother me but it did bother one of the guests I was with.

Loved the grounds and the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. Loved the dining pods. Dinner was delicious with some lovely vegan options (more than the usual just 1 option which was great). Loved the rooms, very elegant and super comfy. The staff were really helpful, warm and friendly too. Had the best time and would defo visit again.

My partner felt a bit constricted by the dinner menu, however that is a very minor point. The food was absolutely delicious.

The option for breakfast in bed for no additional cost was great! The food was top tier too.

Room was very warm. Understandably no air conditioning, but perhaps housekeeping could keep curtains closed from direct sunlight on very hot days?

We were only told on arrival that there was building work and maintenance outside our room. We had booked one of the most expensive rooms with a private hot tub and were met by workers right on our doorstep. I understand that the property is going through new renovations but for the money we paid it would have been nice to have been told on booking or maybe have been compensated in another way.

I loved the old estate feel but with the quirky modern touches. The outside pool is a great luxury touch and in the sunshine makes for the most perfect British holiday.

Food!! Ended up on the kids menu as we felt it had a more hearty feel to it. Breakfast we felt was a little limited too. Also they have selected time on where children can eat and swim which I feel was fine, however having a rather grown up daughter, it did feel like we were kind of a burden. I went to eat in restaurant and because I have my girl we were referred to the side room. Paying the same as other guests so did find this a little off putting!!

Loved the whole feel of the hotel, was cosy and had much to do……walks, bikes you could use even had wellies you could borrow.

During our stay there were a lot of visitors for the day in the spa, making it rather crowded. After they were gone in the evening we got to fully enjoy the facilities

Wonderful luxury experience in the middle of the countryside. Beautiful decor in the building and rooms full of charm and character. Spa is ideal if you want to relax after being out and about.

Nothing to complain about but probably would have chosen to have our evening meal in the main restaurant rather than the conservatory as tables were close together so conversation wasn’t private.

Breakfast in room was slightly disappointing in that there was no butter for toast and no egg on my veggie breakfast. In fairness you can call to have this addressed but I was not in the mood to chase it up. A minor thing in an otherwise lovely break.

The staff were excellent. Ollie, General Manager, went above and beyond. All staff were polite and very helpful. Lunch and Sunday dinner was impeccable. Quite delicious. Rooms are pleasant and clean.

Bit pricey. Evening dinner service a little dysfunctional with meals going to wrong tables and our starter coming out after mains. Short of a front of house at evening dinner maybe? Breakfast had too many front of house. Breakfast good quality, would have liked black pudding and backed beans as an option with the cooked breakfast! Save having to asked for a thimble full of tomato sauce. 12.5% service charge steep at dinner. Whilst around pool would have been good if someone could have done a round to take drink orders. There was an outside bar but nobody behind it. Very good but still room for some improvement.

Lovely room, all new decor since last visit. Outdoor pool open, large 8/10 people outdoors hot tub next to pool Great to have the outside area up and running. Tasty seasonal food, lovely friendly staff.

We were a little surprised at the cost of the food and drinks. Seemed a little expensive.

We booked a junior suite with hot tub which was perfect. The room was spacious, with a large seating area and superb ensuite. The hot tub was in a small courtyard which was private and had a seating area with 2 comfortable chairs where we sat after our dip in the tub. The steak and lamb we had for dinner were delicious and the breakfast was served at our table and very varied. The staff were very helpful, nothing too much trouble.

Dining room staff on Wednesday evening were not very alert. Once you were served your food which was very good it was difficult to get any of the staffs attention as they seemed to concentrate on people dining on the outside rather than also the people inside. When I did get someone's attention it took at least 5mins for a simple apple juice to appear. That said though everything else was excellent! I would use this hotel again! Carl Davies
