Standard double room was very small for 2 people. Bed was small. Cocktails expensive!

Fantastic location and fabulous views from the room. Staff in the restaurant and bar were very welcoming and friendly. Beautiful old historical character hotel. Grand entrance lobby area.

The room did get quite hot overnight even with our window open. The bed itself was comfortable, however the pillows were very lumpy and need replacing.

Our hotel booking was last minute. The hotel was great with a lot of history. Value for money. Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Free car parking and about a 20 minute walk to the main part of town. Great cafes close by - recommend the South-east Coffee for breakfast. It was fantastic.

The room we were allocated was not up to the usual standard room 100 There was a function on at the hotel and the music vibrated through the room until the function finished . But otherwise all was good We have two more bookings sept and October as the hotel is handy for the Brittany ferry to spain

No sign on obsolete hair dryer in bathroom which didn’t work. Ended up calling for another one, not realising there was one in wardrobe. Reception unmanned at times.

There was no air conditioning.. which didn’t bother us as we just opened the window and the nights in May were still cool . If it was a heatwave in UK the room would have been very uncomfortable.

Room Temperature - the room was extremely hot when we arrived late afternoon, with the curtains open and the sun blazing in. Despite opening the window a maximum (small) amount, the room remained more than 30 degC throughout the night and it was impossible to sleep despite the use of the electric fan provided. Suggest curtains are kept closed on south-facing rooms until guests check in. Electronic Charging - there were no USB charging points in the room despite our being in the IT age. At least one of the double 13A sockets adjacent to the desk could have been modified to have a USB charging port.

Food - Breakfast and evening meals were very good. Staff - Everyone was friendly and helpful

When i asked about EV charging as they have a charger was told it was just for the directors. Shame really as it is the punters who pay the bills.

Very close to the sea front. Historic dockyard was about 40 minutes walk. Staff were very friendly, the hotel had a very nice feel. The hotel was very close to some nice restaurants. Breakfast was very good.

I think we had the worse room and it was not cheap. Stuffy with three blocked out windows at the end of the hall. The inn is pretty far from the water so I can’t understand how many rooms can have a seaside view

The only issue was the hot water tap broke, resulting in hot water going everywhere in the bathroom.

Minor issues like fan in bathroom not able to turn off & no hot/cold indicators on sink taps. Hotel quite hot so had to open windows.

Friendly, helpful staff. This was our 2nd visit but without breakfast although the breakfast is very good, plenty of choice & nice dining room. Organic friendly shower/hair shampoo. There's registered parking & an easy walk to promenade, Portsmouth Naval museum one way & Nature museum opposite way (both worth visiting). Security safe, refrigerator & tea/coffee making facilities, plus ironing board/iron in room. Dogs provided with a special meal,bowl, Ball, poo bags & towel.

The decor in the reception, bar & restaurant was beautiful. The breakfast was very good quality & the staff were all friendly, polite & helpful. The bedroom was clean & comfortable. Car park is useful.

Lovely rooms with great amenities. Always clean and comfortable. Staff on front desk always friendly and organised. Breakfast at this hotel is fantastic and the waitress on shift was welcoming and super efficient - she always does a great job and nothing is too much trouble.

A bit cheaper would have been good

The breakfast was excellent and attention was paid to my dietary needs. I was attending an event in the hotel so the location was perfect. Staff listened to me and reacted to my wishes
