Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA room with no window was not ideal, not sure how that's allowed to be honest. I would've liked some extra pillows in addition to the two already on the bed.
Bed was comfortable, the bathroom amenities were unexpected but welcomed.

AustraliaSeemed disorganised. Asked for early check-in after flight from Australia but wasn't available. At check-in time, only one of our room types was available with others not being ready at 4pm. Cleanliness was doubtful as there was black hair visible on the bathroom floor
The beds were comfortable. Maintenance was quickly dealt with.

United KingdomCleanliness was not very good,tv tiny and it does not connect to most channels so bit waste of time. The bathroom sink took forever to drain there was green build around fixtures in bathroom that came off easily with piece of tissue plus a big blob of someone behind the tap. Only 1 pillow on bed.
Nice size room,water at back,quiet.

United KingdomHectic & understaffed check-in. Reception staff under pressure covering a busy bar also. The ladies were lovely, knowledgeable & as efficient as they were able to be. Internet, both free & paid premium was non existent so unable to work whilst there. I knew it was the cheapest option & I s’pose you get what you pay for - internal room with no windows, no daily cleans or restock (Bank Holiday?), but having to beg, borrow & steal milk sachets, tea bags & toilet roll for your 2nd day/night…. Ultimately the hotel is tired & under pressure, as are clearly the staff. Obviously there is a huge influx of overseas tourists, coach parties etc who offer a never ending (& never to return) revenue stream, but I would like to think that their experience in unfamiliar surroundings should be better. Anyway, it is what it is.
Location was good. 20mins walk to Edinburgh Centre.

United States of AmericaI stayed for 2 nights and cost 468 pounds. The hotel doesn't provide free internet. They have internet at common place only. It's 2024 already. If you want to work in your room, you have to buy internet (they sell it). It doesn't worth the value of money

United States Minor Outlying IslandsAt a price of just under £300, even being significantly cheaper than other available options, it still represented terrible value for money. The 4 p.m. check-in - with a supplement payable to check in earlier - felt unnecessarily cruel to the scores of guests who travelled a long way to get there. Seeing overseas tourists being treated in this way made me feel embarrassed to be British.
The location is good. Additionally, at a price of just under £300 a night it was among the least exorbitantly expensive Edinburgh hotels it was possible to find.

DenmarkI did not like the selection of the breakfast it was the same day to day. It did not change at all. The room is really noisy. My window faced a road and during nighttime, I just heard the traffic.
I liked the staff they were always nice, they were helpful when I asked something. I like the amounts of elevators there were 3 elevators which reduced the waiting time. I liked the hard bed mattress.

GermanyHotel was old and worn out. Doors would not shut quietly. Decor worn and "tatty". No overhead protection in smoking area during bad wet weather, a large waterproof Umbrella/ Awning would have sufficed. No toilet brush, toilet paper holder loose. Beds too soft.
Breakfast was excellent, considering it was buffet, but empty trays not refilled quick enough , so the breakfast was going cold while you waited. The excellent bar and reception staff were very supportive, friendly, helpful, and nothing was any trouble.

IrelandThe hotel is in really bad condition - I have never stayed in a place like this, where there is a smell of damp everywhere, signs of mould/age showing in the walls and carpets, and our room didn't even have a window (but it was the only one available for us). No wifi unless you pay an additional fee, and the room is not serviced each day unless you request and pay extra. I think the dampness in the room made us both sick, as we stayed there 4 nights and felt unwell throughout. We shouldn't have spent 4 nights there.
Staff are kind, showers were nice, you can also store your luggage the day of checking out! One of the cheaper hotels in Edinburgh for sure, but you can see why. Fine for a ONE night stay on a budget.
