Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMy wife developed difficulty walking and climbing stairs prior to our arrival in Windermere, so the lack of an elevator posed difficulty for her in reaching our room on the 2nd floor. It's not a problem if you're able to walk up a flight of stairs.
The name attracted us, so that was of immediate interest. The location was within easy walking distance of a variety of places to eat, shops, grocery, pharmacy, post office, and the train station. Our room - #2 - was very clean, very well maintained, and well lit. There's a fan if needed, but cracking open the window was sufficient during our stay. The separate WC room with vanity sink was separate from the shower room, which we found very convenient. Although breakfast is not served, there is a very nice, comfortable dining room area. There were more than enough hot beverage options to suit anyone's tastes. The coffee machine options are amazing. Plus, there is a very good selection of short bread cookies and some fresh fruit available. An umbrella is available if you need to borrow one on your way out to tour the town. Which we did on several occasions while there. But, above all, the primary reason we really enjoyed The Dozy Deer and would highly recommend it is because of its owner, Beth. She was extremely helpful throughout our stay, and on our last day there, she personally went out of her way to make arrangements to ensure we did not miss our return train connection from Oxenholme to London. She was a life-saver on our trip to Windermere.

United KingdomWould’ve preferred tea facilities in room.
Bit unsure about a guest house stay, but we had a lovely surprise, very homely, only met the lady of the house briefly as we was leaving, but you tell she spent time and effort to make your stay comfortable, plenty of places to eat and drink without driving, carpark very close but didn’t need it, always got close enough. Thank again Rob and sue

Location very close to the shops and restaurants (5mins walking distance at the most), easy to find free roadside parking, room was decorated fresh and clean. Communal coffee area was an added bonus with Jura coffee making machine, fruits, biscuits, tea available from 7am to 8pm (it would be an improvement to open the communal room earlier in the morning, as we wanted to start the Scafell Pike hike as early as possible and also it is a good escape for others when people are getting ready in the room for 4) just a small suggestion :)

United KingdomVery comfortable family room on top floor, easy access following instructions sent. We only stayed one night so didn’t see the host. Easy walking distance to nearby shops also walked down to Bowness catching the local bus back up the hill to come back. We ate out so didn’t use the down stairs dining room available for you to eat your own meals / takeouts in.

United KingdomThe location is excellent and just a short walk into town. The room has limited space but very clean and tidy. The bed is comfortable and there is a nice common area with complimentary tea, coffee, and board games. We ran into a problem with our shower, but Beth was very friendly, responsive and communicative and solved the issue promptly. Would definitely come back in the future.

IndiaI had a fall and hurt my nose. Beth the owner drove me to the hospital to Kendell which is a 20 mins drive, waited for more than an hour at the hospital and drove me back. She also dropped me back this morning to the train station as she was not too sure I was totally well. Her place has been designed very thoughtfully and it shows. Clean place with coffee, tea, cookies and fruits on the house : what more do you need Will recommend it to all my friends

United KingdomThere is no on site parking, however parking is plentiful (and free) on surrounding streets.
A very cosy and comfortable room. Tea and good coffee making facilities on tap all day in a guest room downstairs. Good, clear instructions on how to access keys on arrival. Lots of thoughtful extras like advice on various options to visit for breakfast in local area, good local walks to do, umbrellas available for guests to use and also cake left for guests in the afternoon!!
