Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe single room, I would say needs quite a bit of TLC. There were a lot of scuff marks all along the bed side wall. The curtain looked rather sad and the cupboard or the Tower of Pisa could be removed to give more space and just add hooks to hang clothes. The bathroom also needs some TLC. Although clean, no toilet seat, the towel rail is cracking at both ends, the ceiling also has several cracks in it, but most of all the overflow outlet certainly needs a change as it was all rusty, not the nicest sight to have when wanting a shower. The bed itself though, was very comfy. Basically a good lick of paint would help. As for both rooms, no accessible plugs. Only down one side of the double bed in the double bedroom, the only ones we could really use were at the end of the beds.
We liked the location as it was close to the Belfast Ferry, we were made to feel very welcome from the time of our arrival even though we arrived quite late in the day. Breakfast was excellent and double room was good. We had time to eat a hearty breakfast before heading out to the ferry, not in a rush.

United KingdomHotel owner Jo was friendly and helpful on arrival and departure. Hotel provided everything I needed and expected - room was comfortable and clean; free WiFi welcome; bathroom a little tired; breakfast excellent. I visit Merseyside at least twice a year and will return if there are vacancies.

United StatesNot many dining options, but there are a few within walking distance. This is a neighborhood hotel so don’t expect a lot of restaurants.
A nice quiet area to stay in where Liverpool is easily accessible by car or transit.

United KingdomOur room was on the top floor ( I don't like stairs) . It's an older property (which I liked) but some people might prefer something more modern. It took a while to work out the bus services. Some information in room about local restaurants and transport services and a map would be a nice touch because they are dotted all around in different directions and not on a high street so you really have to decide your destination before leaving the hotel rather than just wandering along a high street. Owner did try to explain all of this.
Lovely Victorian house, friendly owner, fan provided for heat, peaceful atmosphere and nice breakfast cooked to order served at table. A surprisingly good choice of restaurants and pubs within 1 mile walk despite quiet village location, so good evening meal choice. Delicious meze platter at Babylon restaurant followed by craft beer at the Hoptimist.

Had a lovely 3-night stay at The Bebington for Birkenhead Live festival. Jo gave me a warm welcome on arrival and was really helpful and hospitable throughout my stay. Had a lovely (filling!) breakfast each morning including choice of cereals, fruit, toast, tea/coffee and a full English breakfast with generous portions. Ensuite room was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. Also appreciated the complimentary biscuits 😊 Regular bus and train services are available within walking distance to explore the Wirral and the rest of Merseyside.

United KingdomThe location of this accommodation was ideal, as it is close to the ferry to/from Belfast. It was nice, too, to have on-site parking. We were given a very friendly welcome from our hosts, and our rooms were comfortable and perfect for a one-night stay. Breakfast was included in the price, and was very good and very filling, setting us up for the day. Overall, this was a good value choice.
