Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing within the house owner's control. Eg a lot of stairs and bathroom very narrow and small. Nothing that was a problem. The kitchen blind my husband pulled down but unfortunately it went too far and we couldn't put it back up as there was no mechanism to do so and it was so high.
Loved the character of the property and high ceilings! Tastefully decorated and comfortable. Everything we needed for a one night stop over up to the Highlands, apart from a teapot! The puppy loved the pine cones...he did crush one a bit before we realised they were there and removed them ...sorry about that.

United KingdomThere was nothing that we didn't like.
Location was great. Property was well equipped, clean and tidy. We slept well. The little extras such as milk, bread, butter etc were appreciated. The property represented very good value for money. The hostess was friendly and very accommodating. We would not hesitate to return.

United KingdomMy only negative was the key lock box being so low to the ground and no lights to see at front door when dark.
Location was perfect as close to train station and Morrisons. Bed was so comfy and the place was spacious and had everything I needed.

United KingdomIt wasn’t a problem for us but it is up four flights of stone steps, that perhaps needs to be made clear as it could be an issue. I would describe the kitchen as quirky…..original features are lovely but they do restrict layout and the food preparation space is limited.
The location is great. So close to Main Street, sea front, train station and Supermarket. Loved the original features in the apartment. Host provided lots of extras.

United KingdomThat I couldn’t stay longer! A serrated knife might have been handy but I’d happily cut my bread with a spoon to get to stay at this gorgeous place again!
What a beautiful place to stay! I’d had a hard weekend and was exhausted so just needed a place to crash. When I saw the price and reviews I couldn’t resist, especially since I’ve stayed in some really grotty hotels that were more expensive than this! I opened the door to sunlight streaming into the hallway and was totally wowed (so much so that I gave my Mum a video tour). There are lovely little touches everywhere that make it feel really special, like breakfast items in the fridge, a charger in the living room, toiletries, games etc. A lot of care has gone into making this flat a really lovely place to stay. Once I’d finally managed to prise myself off the giant sofa I found that the bed was equally comfy. It wasn’t easy to make myself leave it in the morning! Great communication from the host Lisa, too, who made sure it was warm and welcoming upon my arrival (I had to turn the heating down as it was almost too warm and cosy!) Top marks all round, I’m so glad I picked it and I hope that I’ll get to stay again when I’m next in the area -if it’s not fully booked all season!

A beautiful flat at a fantastic price. The host was very accommodating and flat had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The location is right in the town and near the beach, which was lovely. The sofa and bed were extremely comfortable!

United Kingdom4 flight of stairs to top floor might put some people off. When we arrived in heavy rain there was nowhere to park and struggled getting all our stuff to the apartment door. There is largs train station at the end of the road and people are parking for free on this road rather than the car park which was completely empty both days. It would be a good idea to make this a permit only parking area taking the stress out of the parking situation
Excellent location and really nice cosy apartment filled with everything you need. There was boxes of fudge in the cupboard with bread , milk and bacon. It was nice to see an old fashioned big sink like the ones you used to have stand up washes in when you were a kid. I would have loved to stay here and extra night it was that nice. Excellent price too. Shops and pubs just minutes away.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like at all.
What can I say, the apartment is spotlessly clean, in a perfect setting with a beautiful view, and near a train station and the town is within walking distance. There is car parking right outside. We arrived to a very warm welcome, the apartment had the heating on at a perfect temperature and a lamp on in every room. The fridge had Milk bread butter and even a wee belter-packed breakfast. The cupboard had essential salt and pepper sauces and even washing powder. The bedroom was so welcoming with clean nice quality bedding and the sofa was very comfortable with a throw if needed! The views from the windows were incredible from every room. The host was extremely easy to contact if required. We loved it so much we want to buy the place! and will definitely return and recommend to others.
