Wonderful apartment in a quiet area just a 5min walk from the town centre. As well as stunning views the apartment was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and had everything you could need. Ethna was in touch with us before our stay and met us on arrival. She had left tea, coffee, milk etc as well as some homemade jam. She kept in touch during our stay to see if all was ok and if we required anything and recommended several local restaurants for an evening meal for our wedding anniversary and left us a card and some chocolates. Ethna was the perfect host. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we visit Ambleside.

I had a wonderful stay at Barnes Fell. I was greeted by Ethna, who run's everything there. She is a super sweet woman who was very accommodating! The location in Ambleside was perfect, and the apartment was clean and comfortable.

There’s nothing we didn’t like about our stay at Barnes Fells. Only thing to note, for mobility reasons, it’s perched up on a hill, with a steep (but short) walk, with the car parking being a little further round from the property also. The plus side of this, is the views from the window are stunning. A lovely way to enjoy your morning cuppa.

The property was that of a very high standard, with tasteful decor. All kitchen appliances/crockery & cleaning products were provided, as was the lovely added touch of some; tea and coffee supplies, fresh milk, butter & homemade jam.

The Flat was very close to the centre of Ambleside but was also in a very quiet location. Great views from the windows and Ethna was a lovely host. Would definitely stay again in future.

It had everything I needed. Barnes Fell is close to the busy centre of Ambleside yet the property is in a quiet and pleasant location. Ethna, the owner, is kind, friendly and helpful.

Absolutely faultless.

It was a beautiful apartment. Nice furnishings and very comfortable. Ethna was a very attentive and thoughtful host. The location was amazing. Fantastic views while having your morning cuppa. Highly recommended. We will hopefully be back in the not too distant future.

Ethna was a very warm and welcoming host who made us feel very welcome. There were lovely flowers in the apartment and it had everything one might need for a few days away. The kitchen, whilst compact had everything we needed. The apartment was nicely decorated and spotless.... Loughrigg had a beautiful big bath in which to relax with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the views out over the fells ! We slept so well in the very comfortable bed. A great location literally 5 minutes from the heart of Ambleside....plenty of opportunity for walks and beautiful views. Would return in a heartbeat 💓

The steps home are not a challenge by local walking standards, but are an extra climb to be aware of after a evening beer.

Location of the house is close to the bus station, and the center of Ambleside, makes for a very simple walk in, but far enough away that parking isn't a problem. Ethna, the host, is friendly and knowledgeable, she had excellent recommendations, both for shops and walks ! My single room had a double bed, and loads of room, and an excellent shower.

What a beautiful apartment. It was so very clean and fresh. There was everything we needed for our short stay. Lounge with fabulous views, a well equiped small kitchen, beautifully comfortable bedroom and a spacious bathroom with shower. Ethna, our host is a lovely lady who was very welcoming and on hand to help if needed. Great location with beautiful views. Up a short hill but still a 6 to 7 minute comfortable walk to the shops and restaurants, even for my husband who isn't a great walker.

Barnes Fell is simply delightful. A very comfortable & charming abode with great views and an added bonus it is within walking distance to the town centre. Ethna is a charming host. Looking forward to a return trip.

Liked everything.

Really enjoyed our visit to Ambleside and our stay at Barnes Fell. Ethna was the perfect host and made us feel welcome right away. Parking was easy and the town is in easy reach. The apartment had everything that you needed and was very nicely furnished. The views from the lounge, particularly early morning is mesmerising and was so relaxing to sit and watch the mist roll down the valley whilst enjoying a morning coffee. A fabulous stay with a fabulous host. Thank you x

Beautiful location really near the centre of Ambleside. Great for the Amblefest that was on that weekend. Ethna was an excellent host, really helpful and we had a good chat! I would definitely recommend visiting!

The place is very well located nearby shops, restaurants and even waterfalls. Ethna is an amazing host, we went to celebrate a few things and she took care our time and experience was of another level. The accomodation was spotless clean fully equipped and good size, perfect for a relaxing weekend.

Location is great for Ambleside , short walk down into the town centre but really quiet location , Ethna our host was fantastic making sure we were happy and went out of her way to ensure everything went smoothly with our stay , the room was spotless and we had everything we needed, allocated parking was a big plus for me .
