To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomWas in a room in the eaves, which was very warm. Like to have the windows open for freah air, but was very noisy, from the traffic as it was on a main road. If you are a light sleeper I suggest ear plugs! Fans were provided in the room.
Lovely big house converted into 18 rooms. Staff very helpful and freindly. Quite a walk from Balham Station, but ok.

ItalyThe location could be worse, but it definitely is a bit far from most stuff: no restaurants, bars, supermarkets or really any other thing besides houses in the nearby: this is a strictly residential area and you need to take the bus to get anywhere. My main complaint though is the light that flooded in from the window since 5 am, making it impossible to sleep. I think they should really invest in some system to keep the room darker, because not everyone wants to be up at 6 in the morning when they're on holiday.
The room was small but quite cosy, and it was clean. The shower was pretty large instead, which I didn't mind. The bed was definitely comfortable and it had sockets near it. Staff was polite and helpful and -I think- available 24/7. Even though my room faced the main street, it was never noisy, and the surrounding area in general is very quiet. There's a pretty big park (Tooting Common) just beside the Lodge, and a bus stop just outside the door.

RussiaI went for a quick 2-nighter, so having things in my trip agenda happen fast and effective was one of the focus points. The staff was great and flexible on the check-in, the location in the green quiet area allowed me both to have a good night sleep and enjoy the morning stroll to the tube, and the connection to the city centre is reliable and fairly fast!

United KingdomThe atmosphere there was very pleasant, but it's an older building so there is some noise from upstairs rooms etc. Also there is a car park in the back so I was awoken early by early departing guests.
The location was quiet, leafy and green, a very pleasant neighbourhood to stay in with lots of nearby restaurants and shops. The bathroom shower was good, the basic amenities were everything needed. Very pretty decor.

Homely feel, lovely staff, 24x7 reception, got everything you need. A little further out from central London but I often make this trip to Balham as nothing else beats it for this quality of stay/price and I’ve stayed in a lot of 3 star hotels in London
