Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe guest information in the room could have been better, I don't remember it mentioning what time breakfast was but could be wrong.
Brilliant location, stunning historically furnished rooms, bathroom was modern, very friendly and helpful staff, great tea/coffee supplies in room, great view from the room, quiet at night and spacious, bus stop is right outside to get back from inner Bath and really easy to hop back on A46 to go home.

United KingdomOption for a full English breakfast would have been good and there are no real alternatives locally without going ito the City
Travelled with friends, had a twin room, which was a little small but perfectly adequate with a large bathroom and plenty of storage space. Building has plenty of character and is presumably listed. Continental breakfast is available for c£9 but we chose not to have. Parking provision is excellent compared to City Centre. Uber into the centre of Bath cost £10 and takes 10 mins.

AustraliaI loved the size of the room and the four poster bed. The furnishings were beautiful. The room was warm and cosy. Having a table and 2 chairs was great. Plenty of storage. The room had a beautiful view over the garden.
Breakfast room was lovely. Basic breakfast of cereal, toast with yogurt, fresh fruit, jams, ham and cheese. Our bathroom was windowless and quite cramped. There were only body wash sachets to use. No shower cap, body lotions. Did not like having the basin in the bedroom. Mirror in bedroom had been cleaned but was left streaky. The hotel was in need of maintenance. The bed was a tad uncomfortable and slightly sunk in the middle.

United KingdomThe decor is tired and needs updating. The beds are very old and need replacing. Have stayed several times before.
The Manager is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for whatever you enquire about. The situation of The Lodge is very well placed for getting transport into Bath city.

United KingdomThe communal sitting room could have been a little more inviting. The toiletries are of poor quality and hard to open in the shower without scissors.
An old but elegant building so be prepared for squeaky floors. Didn't have the £8 continental breakfast, I don't eat breakfast. I imagine the feedback to be different depending on the room chosen, mine was good. Very comfortable big double bed. Very friendly and informative manager. Nice to find ground coffee option for the cafetiere as well as the normal nescafe sachets.

United KingdomThe check out was a bit weird, as we couldn't find anyone to give our key too and reception was locked after 10:30 (our fault really as we were about 10 minutes late), but we got around the situation Maybe a drop box would be good. However, this had no impact on us whatsoever, just a little strange :-)
Staff were amazing, accommodated what we asked for where they could. The hotel was in a great location for us, close enough to Bath too. The room we had was lovely and the hotel itself was really quiet, despite it being full We will definitely be returning on our next visit

ItalyIt is understandable that a structure dating back to 1800s can't be much customized for today's needs, so you have to take into consideration some aspects that can effect your comfort. Such as the bathroom that doesn't have room for the sink which is build inside the room, or light switches that are not close to your bed. the only light switch was the bed side lamp's that was punched to the wall above the bed and we had to get up to turn it on. The other big issue that can be resolved and don't depend on the structure were the team cups!!! they material quality was really bad, one tea or coffee was enough to stain them and you had to wash them while rubbing it really hard under sink's hot water that was inside the room. Not very convenient!
The location and the room was magical, we felt like pretty royal and the room atmosphere would take to to 1800s! We also saw a deer in the beautiful garden while having English tea and sitting by the window. The location is ideal with anyone traveling by car, in just 5 minutes you can get to the center of Bath, while sleeping in the calming outer city side at night.

Within easy walk to Bath Centre. The Lodge is a convenient base for a Bath visit and is thoroughly recommended. Will book again, when next visiting Bath.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like, but felt they could make more of the garden area if it was ‘spruced’ up a little.
The room was lovely, authentic for the experience we were looking for. We particularly liked being able to sit and have a drink whilst looking out into the garden. Having a small sitting area was a great addition to the room. The facilities were superb and we had a very comfortable stay. Having access to a garden was a lovely touch and again added to the experience. The staff were polite and helpful and provided a personal touch which was refreshing. All in all a wonderful property which I would highly recommend and would definitely return to.

Excellent location. Very friendly staff and a clean room. Stunning Georgian listed building so had character and enjoyed a drink from their little bar area and a walk in the grounds. Quiet even thought it was close to busy roads. Cold breakfast buffet satisfactory. Bus stop outside on the main road was brilliant for gettting into the city centre

AustraliaNot much can be done about the space in bathrooms in such an historic building but it is handy to note that the shower space we had was quite small and fittings are bit tricky to operate. But we worked around any issues presented.
Staff and service wonderful. Very helpful, courteous and accomodating. Yes the lodge is an old building with dated furnishings but the charm, gardens and parking facilities, cleanliness, view from both breakfast and dining rooms enhanced an old world charm.
