Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, I honestly can’t think of anything else that could be improved at the Badgers Inn
We had an excellent breakfast cooked freshly each morning, the host was so lovely and accommodating asking us what we wanted, a fresh pot of tea and orange juice was given to us every morning plus toast with jam and marmalade ready for use on the table, couldn’t fault anything. Thank you so much for a lovely three day break

United KingdomWifi signal strength in room got a bit weak in the late evening, but I used my phone as a tether so no real problem. It was fine the next day.
Nicely-decorated and well-appointed room, with lots of facilities (Nespresso machine, fridge with fresh milk, orange juice, bottled water). Superb breakfast.

United KingdomNothing to dislike
The location was ideal for us, as we were attending a wedding nearby. The rooms we had were great; comfortable and well furnished, with tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. We were advised that getting a local taxi might be difficult, and the young lady who greeted us even offered to pick us up after the wedding reception if had any trouble getting back. Lovely garden, although we couldn't make the most of it as we weren't there for long enough. Breakfast was one of the best we have enjoyed during a stay.

The whole ambience was relaxed and friendly making the Badgers a proper country gastro pub. The breakfast and dinner were excellent and I especially liked the way the cooking was done to meet our needs - one of us is vegetarian. The accommodation was full of character and rustically rural with some nice finishing touches.

United KingdomThe gate for access after hours did not want to open with the keys but it was not of any consequence as the place stayed open late. Some fresh fruit would make a good addition to the breakfast.
Jules and her team were most welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. A table for dinner was reserved for us and the menu was explained to us in the light of being vegetarian. The food was very tasty and the breakfast was very plentiful. Leaflets were provided describing local attractions.

United KingdomThe whole team went over and above their duties to put on a wonderful Charity quiz night for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. A delicious BBQ and service with a smile. 3 of us stayed over and had to get up early to continue our charity South Downs Way ride and the chef came in early to make us a delicious breakfast. It's a lovely pub in a great location. All staff are friendly clean tidy and very efficient at their jobs. Looking forward to going back for another meal or 5!

United KingdomOn a very busy A road which although there was good access on foot via rights of way from Tillington and Petworth it made the actual access to the Badgers itself and to the very good little stores to the south slightly tricky. Rather expensive for solo traveller as no single room options.
Very spacious room, exceptionally good service from all staff, and delicious and plentiful food, both at breakfast and evening meal available in public house. A handy little local stores a short walk away for provisions. An infrequent bus service also seems to run past pub though I did not test this out.

United StatesNo AC as expected but maybe a fan would be good. The TV was super small. With TV prices so cheap now, very surprised that they didn’t have a bigger TV. Service was a little slow for dinner and not too attentive. Wanted to get a dessert and no one came back to check on us. Decided to leave instead. Maybe a little more attention to customers and it’d be a great little place to stay.
Great old world charm and friendly staff. I did have dinner one night and the food was good. It was pretty busy and the service wasn’t the best. Nice place though and clearly a busy place to stay

United KingdomIf I have to critique it would be that the room and bathroom sloped downwards slightly as the building is old but it was really part of its charm.
Lovely spacious room and bathroom. The decor just worked! It has a certain charm I can’t put my finger on but was comforting. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
