Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyEverything was fine for us as we wanted to travel on a budget. There is no luxury or overly comfort. For us it was great as we wanted to save money and spend the days in the city anyway, so we didn't need anything else but a clean bathroom and a warm bed. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the room or if you want luxury, this might not be the right place. Also, there is no heating in the bathroom, but you can make the shower very warm so we didn't really care.
If you travel on a budget, this place is a good option. You get everything you need, not more but also not less. The next bus stop is really close and brings you directly into the city center. The beach is 20 minutes walking away and really beautiful. The host is very friendly. We had a room with a double bed, our own bathroom with shower and we had two heatings in our bedroom which was really nice because you could make the room really warm. Moreover, we could borrow a hairdryer. We also had a water boiler and two glasses and cups in our room. For the price you cannot complain.

United KingdomThe TV didn't work however host tried to resolve, most of them didn't work possibly due to strong winds prior so not really their fault. Under construction so scaffolding up, unsightly, but no builders because it was near Xmas. I should think they'll be back in the new year. Some people arrived on the first night at 3am, what sounded like a herd of school children stampeded around screaming and knocking on doors for 2 hours (3am-5am) and adults talking really loud but making no effort to control their kids. Very inconsiderate. Not sure how you would correct this, either no check ins after a certain time, or if you do allow late check-ins then have the host present so they can make sure they are considerate. We were very tired the next day.
Lovely old building, room nice (got upgraded because it was quiet), the host was very helpful. Great location to get into Edinburgh by bus. Parking available.

PhilippinesI thought we had a garden view but the garden is under construction. If we only knew that, we could have stayed in their other rooms. Plus there is not a lot of parking space within the guest house premises. Good thing there is parking at the school across the street. There are times the hot shower is cold, wait for a minute for it to become warm again.
Beat option to stay in if you rented a car as parking inside Edinburgh city center is super expensive. Since it was under construction, maybe after it it’ll be cozy. Not sure if they’ll have a garden view option again.

FranceFor anyone who is a light sleeper, this place might not be to your liking. It is an older building, so the floors are wood and squeak, and the walls are thin, so you can hear everything happening around the place. They are also currently expanding the building. Construction starts around 8am every morning, we didn’t mind it as we wanted to tackle each day, but if you wanted to sleep in, be ready for some music and hammers around that time! The bed was also a bit lumpy. Kind of expected that the bed wouldn’t be like the one at home, but the springs were quite prominent in certain spots!
We enjoyed our stay! There was a bus stop just outside, so we could easily get to the city center. Not too far away (10-20 min walk) is a Costa Coffee, which is also close to another bus stop, so we were able to get breakfast fairly easy each morning. We did not partake in the guesthouse’s offer of breakfast, so I cannot rate that option. There was hot water for showering (at least 40 min straight) and 2 towels in the room. We didn’t have our room cleaned or get any new towels while we were there, we were fine with what we had, so I cannot rate housekeeping skills either. Although it was certainly clean when we arrived! The room was quite comfortable temperature wise, not cold (the bathroom more so than the room) but not overly hot either. The comforter on the bed was fluffy and kept us snuggled all night! Even though we arrived around 11pm, the proprietor was available to speak with us about a confusion, and welcome us for our stay. Recommended if you have a tight budget but want to see the city and simply need a place for your head at night!
