Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStrangely, considering the view, the room window was grubby, and also the large plate glass windows in the restaurant were ovderdue a clean. We didn't take breakfast as it looked overpriced and the signage suggested it would be overcrowded. Opted for dinner in the restaurant but considered it overpriced, and clearly the kitchen wasn't stocked for the bank holiday weekend as the sea bass and tuna had run out, leaving us disappointed and the other choices limited. NB The Ivy is a short walk away and it was superb the following night.
Superb location at the top of the Avon Gorge overlooking the bridge at the rear of the hotel. The outside terrace bar is perfect for sundown drinks watching the bridge lights come on. At the front, Clifton Village is a short stroll away and is a charming area. We very much appreciated being given a resident's permit to park for free on the street 100 meters away - though we know it was first come first served for these. Friendly and helpful staff - notably the waitress for dinner (a uni student doing drama/performance) Great, spacious walk-in shower with a waterfall head and controls that are easy to follow.

United KingdomThe lighting in the bathroom was really dull. The car park area is very ugly - it is the first impression of the hotel for some so surely it could be brightened up a bit. In a hotel like this you should be able to get service at the bar after hours - we could only buy a small selection of drinks, in cans from reception when we came in at midnight. Breakfast - our scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was cold Breakfast waitresses seemed grumpy and unhappy. In my opinion its overpriced for what it is.

United KingdomThere is a very strange setup here the hotel is situated overlooking the beautiful the Avon Gorge. It has breathtaking views from inside the restaurant and hotel bar, however all of the outdoor seating is run by apparently a completely separate business?? Meaning you can’t order food from the hotel bar or restaurant and eat it outside?? The hotel areas are mostly clean and well run, unfortunately this cannot be said for the pub. The staff were trying their best but it’s clear there is no effective management overseeing operations. Long waits a the bar to place orders. The stunning views are severely let down by a) old tatty furniture that wasn’t cleaned b) uncleared tables where people had left after having food, various detritus on the floors and chairs cigarette ends, crisp packets, used napkins etc. etc. etc.
Fantastic views, small but comfortable hotel bar area and lovely selection of breakfast offerings with really friendly staff.

United KingdomThe mattress was too soft for me - but also really needed turning or replacing (the head and middle were more 'squashed' than the foot end). There was a fire door to the other section of the building next to my room and someone walked through and let it bang shut at least five times between midnight and six am, waking us. There is a large gap under the door, so you could hear anyone in the corridor or waiting for the lift clearly, which also made it hard to sleep - especially for the dog!
Breakfast was lovely - and provision for the dog excellent. Finding parking was easy.

United KingdomParking. Although we had a permit, and found a space, it is a little worrying, if you go out in the evening and wondering will there will be a space available when you return later. This is not fault of the hotel, just Bristol. The staff were reassuring on this issue.

United StatesHard to fault really, though it looked like parking (if I'd come in a car) might have been tricky.
Comfy room, great bed and very toasty (warm). I paid extra for a room with a view of the Clifton Bridge. It did have that, but the limited perspective wasn't quite what I imagined. Lovely hotel bar, but small and quickly filled. View from the breakfast room is, erm, gorgeous! Well positioned for visiting Clifton Village.

United KingdomInconsistent use of the name of the restaurant and "bistro" without the name, so that it wasn't clear on first arriving that the named restaurant is actually the bistro - but obviously that was soon understood as there is only one restaurant/bistro.
Lovely staff, comfortable bed, air con, "very good breakfast" was very good, availability of parking - it was all very easy and pleasant. The location is great although we chose it for its proximity to family rather than the view etc.
