Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot everyone on reception was helpful. We weren't asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Our room had steps down to bathroom which was potentially dangerous in the night. Shower wasn't consistent in temperature. Bathroom looked lovely but not that practical. Didn't like the video of the rooms on loop in lounge and restaurant.
Lovely location by river. Terrace and garden nice. Room very well presented. Breakfast and dinner good. Good service in bar and restaurant.

United KingdomDifficult to think of anything really. The plug sockets in our room were too close to the ground which made plugging some items in more difficult than it had to be. We even had to avoid a plug socket entirely as there wasn't enough room for the cable. ...that's about it.
The location is superb. Dunkeld may be small, but being right in the heart of it provided excellent travel connections and breathtaking scenery. While we didn’t dine there in the evenings, the breakfasts were outstanding. The service was swift, the food delicious, and the ambiance ideal for starting the day right. The highlight of our stay was the staff. From booking to departure, they were consistently pleasant, helpful, and proactive in ensuring our stay was perfect. On multiple occasions, I even saw staff assisting non-residents with directions and advice, showcasing their extraordinary commitment to hospitality. This experience reflects not only the dedication of the staff but also the exceptional culture the hotel has nurtured over the years. The Atholl Arms Hotel and its team are truly the heart of the local community and a standout example of excellent service for visitors.

United KingdomThis hotel really was a 10/10, except for the fact we got no sleep. Unfortunately we had someone in the room next who we could very clearly hear snoring all night, it kept us awake and actually woke us up at various points too. I appreciate this isn't something the hotel can do much about, but I think it's worth being aware of.
Absolutely beautiful hotel and in a lovely little town. The hotel has various areas inside and out to relax. The rooms are decorated beautifully.

GermanyForeigners should be told that the electricity supply for the shower works by pulling a string from the ceiling . I thought it might trigger an alarm.
Good Basis for travelling in the area, good walks and places of interest near-by , quaint town Center with nice shops.

United KingdomBreakfast was not very nice unfortunately. Sausage, black pudding and bacon weren’t cooked properly. Coffee machine wasn’t great and difficult to work, and selection of cups for each coffee wasn’t great. Saw people using the machine before me and coffee was pouring over their cup. I took a bigger cup and it was piping hot so you couldn’t actually carry it! Needs changed.
Quirky decor. Comfortable, warm, room was fantastic, bed very comfortable. Staff attentive and friendly. Great for travelling dogs too.

United KingdomThe only let down was the shower, very poor flow of water which was odd as the taps on the sink were fine.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly & efficient. Our room on the first floor had a beautiful view of the river. The room was cozy, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast a good selection & all our evening meals were perfect.

United KingdomIt's a charming, quirky old building and while you make allowances for the age of the building (uneven sloping floors ETC) the ensuite bathroom (Room 10) shower was pathetic. I made the mistake of trying to use it and wished I hadn't bothered. The volume of water from the shower head was dreadful and any plans of a nice hot shower went down the plughole with the trickle of water. I did tell staff and was told that there was a good chance that the plumbimg may be upgraded. It kind of fell on deaf ears that this reasoning was not really what I wanted to hear. My daughter's room shower was reportedly fine. The wife gave up on the shower as well and ended up having a very shallow splashy bath. Very disappointed that there was no conversation about putting this basic hotel room requirement right with with me, knock a meal or a couple of drinks off the bill. Lesson learnt, be more shirty and demanding I suppose.
Location is superb, stayed in Room 10 for two nights, second floor overlooking the River Tay and Dunkeld Bridge, wonderful views. Room was a decent size and comfortable. We had booked a smaller cheaper room but had to upgrade as that was not dog friendly. This was not clear on the Booking.com site at the time of booking. Had two breakfasts and evening meals. Full breakfast was a nice way to start the day. The first evening meal was fine the second, just Ok, very chewy lamb steak. We mainly chose to stay here as it has great reviews and history as dog friendly. It surpassed the dog friendly expectations and we felt genuinely comfortable with the dog in tow. As a result spent a few hourts in the hotels lounge area running up a sizeable bar tab whilst chatting to other like minded folk, thoroughly enjoyable lounge area and good sevice. Parking is right out the front and is advertised as first come first served arrangement. Didn't have any issues getting parked when we arrived and never used the car again so no issues there.
