Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMy wife and I stayed 2 nights at Ardoran House in September. We were met at the ferry by John who drove us to Ardoran House. The accommodation was both comfortable and well presented and rooms quite spacious. Location wise it is a short walk to 2 hotels which we dined at plus a Spar co-op. Breakfast was delicious. Richard our host was such a professional who wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We didn’t get the opportunity to have 6 o’clock drinks with him (as we like to eat dinner early) but we still got the opportunity to talk and find out about his interesting life and how he came to manage Ardoran House.

United KingdomVery friendly host with a delightful property and a wealth of local information and anecdotes. House was very comfortable with carefully co-ordinated decor. Lovely breakfast! We felt like we got a greater sense of the island by staying in a smaller establishment, and very much appreciated being met at the ferry.

United KingdomEverything about this property is perfect, particularly so the warm, attentive and friendly host Richard who went above & beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. I could sense the happy & positive energies in the house the moment I walked in! Spotlessly clean & spacious, the conservatory was a favourite to relax in and read the many books available, particularly while enjoying the complementary wine in the evening! The hot tub was a joy and the beds extremely comfortable before enjoying a delicious hearty breakfast in the morning. The location is spot on with stunning views over to Mull and easy walking distance to the pier, shops and restaurants. I was very sad to leave and will definitely return!

United StatesThis was not a problem for me, and I thrived on the many walks, but someone with mobility issues needs to be aware of the walk of 15 to 20 minutes to the two restaurants on the island. Those are the main places to have dinner. Double check about a little taxi service in case this is an issue. And as for getting to Ardoran House from the ferry, we had an easy, delightful pickup and quick drop off. Ardoran's bedrooms are upstairs. I say all of this because a decade ago I was injured whitewater rafting in Uganda, so I know what it's like in those first months to have mobility challenges.
The owner attended to every detail with a discerning eye to make the stay comfortable. My friends and I spent a lot of time in the sunroom when the rains came and enjoyed the setting for cozy conversations. Breakfasts were delicious, with fresh eggs, fruit, yogurt and good coffee and juice.

Luxury indeed! Richard works hard to offer comfortable, spacious, friendly and immaculately clean accommodation. Coffee and teas are continually replenished in the room, with a wide range of perfectly cooked breakfast items as well as the excellent buffet options. The conservatory has lots of books on Iona to browse when it's raining - or when Richard offers a glass of wine in the evening! We were sorry to leave after 3 nights.

Great place for a relaxing and remote stay. Warm welcome from Richard and the staff. We were happily surprised to have someone picking us up from the ferry while the rain was pouring. Accommodation is really friendly and clean. We enjoyed a lot our stay. Also Richard was nice enough to prepare us a little take away breakfast while we had to leave at 6:30 (outside of the breakfast hour). Strongly recommend this place.
