Breakfast should be improved so that you can order an individual serve of toast or something else as opposed to paying for a buffet the entire buffet, and access to earlier coffee services or facilities for those needing to be up early for meetings, work etc.

Great central location. Staff accommadated my later check out request and facilities were very clean. Ventilation / air in the hotel was a plus - over-heated hotel rooms are usually an issue but here. Wifi was brilliant as were the views.

The breakfast was extremely overpriced and was a waste of money, the food was cold and we barely ate anything. The fire alarm woke us up and we had to evacuate from the building, i appreciate this can’t be helped but better communication from staff would have been appreciated. The bed was also very hard and uncomfy

Great location and decent size bedroom. Within walking distance to lots of attractions and activities. Parking was available on site which saved us lots of messing around. The bathroom was clean and had both a bath and shower

The location is great but the square is very lively until the wee hours of morning. Even with the sliding glass door closed, we could still hear the noise from the street and even other hotel guests. So this isn’t the quietest hotel. We had a king-size bed which was quite firm so we didn’t sleep well. The bathroom was clean and modern though the shower smelled a little musty. The lifts were small. There was a rip in the carpet fixed with duct tape which gave me the impression that the hotel needs a bit of an update.

Excellent location in the old city in the Grassmarket Square. There are lots of pubs on the cobbled-stoned square, and hotels and lots of history here. It’s a very lively area with street musicians too but not as heavily used as the Royal Mile (half block to the north), so this is a better location. Directly off this square is the diagonal Victoria Street for the Harry Potter fans—all the shops are super cute and there’s a Harry Potter themed museum. In the other direction, there’s a small supermarket, the college, and more historical areas. So there’s lots to see and do from this hotel, no car needed. The hotel itself has a modern look and feel. The staff is international and very friendly, helpful, and attentive. We chose a Castle View Deluxe Room with Balcony, the view of the castle from our room was astounding! The interior was clean with simple décor. They offered a welcome letter, a gratis bottle of red wine, Nespresso machine and kettle are provided along with cups, instant coffee, herbal and black teas, and biscuits which are replenished daily along with the glasses and cups with the daily housekeeping service. The bathroom was large. The shower and tub were separate. Cotton weave bathrobes and slippers. Towels were soft and fluffy. The toiletries were high quality. The included breakfast was buffet and order off the menu. The buffet was Scottish breakfast along with cold cereals and fruit. Off the menu I had the smoked salmon one day and the smoked kippers the next—both were wonderful. The hotel also offers a swimming pool. It also offered a dry sauna room which we enjoyed. There are changing areas, showers, and lockers in the pool/sauna area and the hotel will provide extra towels if needed.

Maybe a little noisy at night due to pubs in the area. Couldn’t get the room service to work with the QR code on the menu (but calling worked and food was great!)

Location is simply the best - get a room with a view to the castle. Close to restaurants and everything in Old Town.

There was nothing to dislike, nothing whatsoever

The location was brilliant, right on the charming Grassmarket with bars, restaurants and all the sights close by. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everyone, including the receptionists, the staff in the restaurant, the staff in cleaning as well as those who seemed to work in the hotels administration were all so smiling, polite and welcoming, and contributed in creating an atmosphere of comfort and homeliness. Last, but not least, the breakfast was amazing!

The room was just okay. Didn’t like the bathtub—would have preferred a walk in shower. The bathtub was pretty high, so I wouldn’t recommend for elderly people.

The location was perfect—right in the middle of everything.
