Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur room had a very loud, creaky floor which meant that if one of us got up in the night, the other one was woken up. We were expecting a view of the square from our 4-poster room😔
Very good food and service. Our room was lovely.

United KingdomThe Internet connection wasn't good. The water took quite a while to run hot in the shower.
The location in the centre of town was handy. The rooms and bed linen were clean. Plenty of tea and coffee supplied in the room. Very good substantial breakfast supplied. The room had character, with exposed beams and the odd creaky floorboard.

United KingdomThe room was lovely but felt a little claustrophobic as the window was high and it was very hot, so not much air. The price of 2 glasses of wine just under £20 and couldn't get food late on after being at a funeral all day, which was a little disappointing.
I was attending a funeral and the staff were very accommodating letting my friend and I check in early. Free parking just around the corner and a great location to where the wake was, so all in all it was very convenient. The breakfast was yummy and the staff were very pleasant.

United KingdomI suppose I'm not a great fan of ordering breakfast the night before and also giving time you will be down. Would prefer to come down when ready and order what I fancy at time- but I get how it works for two people to run it smoothly. It was a little noisy from the Square late on- I was woken up around 2.00 pm BUT it was a Saturday night and I soon went back to sleep and hey I was young once!
The staff / owners - nothing too much trouble, breakfast excellent- my veggie breakfast was outstanding. Friendly Forest of Dean folk in pub- will pop in if I'm in Coleford again just for a pint. Building old and quirky - very stylish reception area we liked it very much. Very comfortable room with LOTS OF TEA AND MILK hurray! Great position for the forest - bus stop outside.

United KingdomThere was a lot of rowdy noise from the street late at night from young people waiting for lifts or taxis. This is probably only a problem at weekends and in certain rooms. We'll ask for a quieter room next time.
Superb breakfast served with a friendly smile - thank you! The central location was great for exploring Coleford.

United KingdomThe hotel is situated on the high street, so do not expect to hear a pin drop at night. Certainly wouldn't put me off staying again

AustraliaThe only tricky aspect was the parking in the local car park.
We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Forest of Dean. The busy hotel is in the centre of town which is easy to walk around. Our room was large and comfortable, with a nice bath. Dinner was served in a neat dining room and was typical hearty pub food. Breakfast was cooked to order and tasty.

United KingdomThe high st is a bit noisy as it's next to a kebab shoo
Lovely little village, great little pub, staff are really friendly and helpful the room was lovely, nice 4 poster bed and really comfortable, however we had room 103 which faces out onto the main street, and next door but one to a kebab shop which is open until 2am . So expect some noise, we would definitely go back but ask for a room that doesn't face onto the high street,

United KingdomYou know what, for the money you should have no complaints. Honestly.
First thing to consider really is price, my stay was less than £65 for one night and that included breakfast, which was brilliant, better in fact than some 4 & 5 * places in central London. My room was nice and big and included a 4 poster bed, desk, chair, side table, etc, 32 inch TV, tea and coffee as you'd expect. Bathroom was clean and functional, plenty hot water from the shower and nice and powerful. Always a plus after a days work. Décor is in keeping with the theme & style of the hotel, honest & traditional. All the staff I meet were very friendly, check in was quick and easy. Breakfast was suburb, evening meal again was brilliant, homemade curry & chips with a pint. Very efficient service from start to finish.

United KingdomSome parts of the room and hotel were a little bit tired and in need of some TLC. The bedside lights in our room didn't work, and some patches of wallpaper were damaged or peeling, for example. The breakfast was a bit small, but was good quality. Very minor things overall, and would happily stay again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar/pub area was traditional, warm, with a great selection of reasonably priced beers, and some very friendly locals. The food was decent and reasonably priced as well. The room was spacious, quiet (at the rear of the building), with a very comfortable bed, and the shower was powerful and hot.
