Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe breakfast which was supposed to be included in the price was a joke. A stale croissant and a yoghurt basically…if you want anything else you have to pay for it. So don’t expect a cooked breakfast. Didn’t bother with it after the first morning. WiFi only seemed to partially work in the bedroom and not downstairs. Over our 3 night stay, our room wasn’t serviced at all.
The room was cosy and comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Dinner was very good and we had the most amazing guy look after us. I wish I had got his name. There were 9 of us for dinner and he was so patient, polite, obliging and funny. He was the star of the show!

United KingdomThe food is great value for money and I would highly recommend having lunch or dinner
Our room was clean and very comfortable. It’s well located to Ashdown Forest and Phoo Corner. Staff are not the most friendly apart from Blake who could not do enough for you fantastic member of staff. The pub is advertised bed and breakfast however the breakfast is supposed to be continental it’s not! It’s cheap prosiest yogurt and Croissant. Other than that you must pay for your breakfast non of this was made clear upon booking and I don’t feel The Bear is good value for money. My final point is if you don’t mind not a poor breakfast and some miserable staff I highly recommend the food do have dinner you will not be disappointed. So other than one nice member of staff and a lovely dinner this would not be enough to make me return.

United KingdomWe had one very dirty pillowcase which was very off putting. The continental breakfast offer was poor with a rather unfriendly atmosphere.
Love the Winnie the Pooh theme. The rooms were nice (we stayed in Pooh but looked around Piglet too). There are no electric plugs near enough the mirror to enable hair drying. Also our mattress was very poor. I think quite old as it dipped a lot. We didn’t sleep well. Dean was the highlight of our stay. Friendly and welcoming. Evening food was good and Dean and the chef were very kind in providing something not on the menu for a poorly friend. Very good service.

United KingdomThere was a little difficulty with the heating but we sorted this out. We also had to wait a while for breakfast but it was lovely when we got it. Room and sheets needed a bit of a clean however. A little pricey but we were happy to pay for the novelty.
We ate at the anchor inn on our last stay to Ashdown Forest and decided to stay this time. We were in the Piglet room which was a twin room. It was spacious and had a nice bathroom and facilities. We had dinner there which was great. It was quiet at night as well which was good since we were over the pub. Location was fantastic and staff were helpful.

IrelandOur room (Pooh) was a little chilly on arrival but did warm up.
Lovely rambling old pub, characterful and unspoilt, with comfortable accommodation (rooms named after Winnie-the-Pooh characters). Great ‘field to fork’ dining. Friendly staff.

United KingdomEverything was perfect - the room (we were in Tigger), the food (exceptional - don’t lose the chef!), the bed - so comfortable, the location - perfect for visiting Hever, Chiddingstone etc. Last but not least, the very accommodating staff. What a find - we loved it.

United KingdomEvery time I touched the carpet I picked up someone else's hair that had been left behind and you could see the dust on the floor in the bathroom. The lights also were a bit sketchy with the electrics. One of the lamps and the big light seemed to be almost vibrating with the light rather than being steady (my guess would be a non-dimming bulb in the dimable fixture) and it was off-putting so I avoided using those on my stay. The TV was on an expandable bracket but the wire didn't go all the way and it pulled the wire out when I brought it forward. The staff were understanding about it but judging by their reaction it maybe wasn't the first time so I'd reckon that needs sorting perhaps. There was also no detachable shower head, just the overhead one, so I didn't feel like I could fully get clean and rinse off.
The gentle Winnie The Pooh themes throughout were lovely. All of the staff were amazingly keen to keep you comfortable, and friendly without seeming unprofessional. I felt very welcome by them. The breakfast was catered to you to a t and was wonderful. Fresh pastries and cooked-to-order English breakfast. The bed was amazingly comfortable and they were very generous with the complimentary teas and coffees. There were giant windows and thick curtains in my room so there was so much natural light but you can keep it darker if you need to. The pub grub itself wasn't too varied by my standards but I had a wonderful stonebaked pizza and comforting soup. It was right in the middle of the village with easy bus links and just across from the village shop. The lighting in the bathroom was gorgeous and the fixtures were very modern without taking away from the vintage aspects, like the fireplace and dresser. Would recommend this as a place to stay for anyone coming by.

United KingdomNo towels in room on arrival but sorted very quickly. Drinking glass was dirty. I am sure it would have been changed if I had asked but it was late when I noticed it.
Breakfast exceeded expectations. Midweek booking so breakfast was Continental only however this included a choice of eggs on toast (excellent poached eggs) and warmed croissants. As a non tea and coffee drinker I was pleased to be given hot chocolate. Very friendly staff. Bag kept securely after check out. Good range of toiletries. Large, comfy bed. Bottled water.
