Paid for an upgraded room …2 of the 4 blinds in room broken. Radiator could not be turned off Tea making facilities had no plug to go into where it was positioned, so had to unplug an item in another area of room to make a drink. Coffee machine was too small to fit the cups in room. Layout of room poorly thought out .

Breakfast was nice but a little disappointing, could have been hotter and they had run out of orange juice.Some croissants and Nutella would be nice to add as an option into the continental selection. However, the team were really helpful and friendly and sorted us some nice crispy bacon from the chefs.

Lovely large and clean room overlooking the lake. It was dog friendly and a little treat box was waiting in our room for our dog which was a lovely touch and nice surprise. The spa was super relaxing, lots of variety in there too.

Room could have been cleaner, there was dust on a mirror, a lot on the extractor fan, and dirty marks around bathroom door handle, oh and a dirty spare towel in the wardrobe. Breakfast was of similar quality to those in large chains of budget hotels, we didn't get a decent fried egg in 4 days. Restaurant chairs had to be brushed off before you sat down, why? because we saw staff brush crumbs off of the tables onto them, and they were not comfortable either. Selection on menu was limited, both for the restaurant and bar, watch out for the 10% service charge in the restaurant! Doesn't rate it's 4 stars!

It just needs some attention,with a large cobwebs in corners of room in the bathroom, not enough coffee and milk supply, only enough for one drink for one person. Bar staff needs to stay behind the bar, waiting constantly for someone to come to be served. No coffee at 10 pm at night waiting for the machine to be cleaned waiting around 45 minutes. I gave up in the end. Spoke to the bar attendant who said it is still cleaning, I also heard someone say if you are going to argue with the guests, do it in a respective manner.

Our bathroom was a bit grubby. And the decor was dated with a few out door maintenance issues. But to be fair there were not too many staff and the ones we saw were running around doing loads so maybe staffing is a bit low.

It's an absolutely beautiful setting and the main house looks lovely, very impressive. The out door space is lovely too. All the staff were polite and helpful.

Disappointed to find neither of steam rooms in spa were working for different reasons.

Lovely setting not far from Shrewsbury Town. Peaceful, lovely spacious room in annexe part. Nice food and bar area. Unexpected local pianist entertaining us on the Friday evening was a bonus to our stay.

Staff were friendly and warm on reception, however the staff behind the bar seem to lack urgency. Staff for breakfast were quite rude and unwelcoming. The room we stayed in at the school house was a little tired could do with some upgrading - we could hear the heating all night long which was irritating.

Location was stunning, the main house is beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean.

I was put on this occasion, in a annex to the hotel which seemed to be full of guests from a wedding going on, and whilst to a degree it is out of the hotels control putting a single traveller who wanted a quiet nights rest in the same space was not a good idea. The noise was dreadful when I checked in (I probably should have complained at this point but I was very tired) and again from about midnight to the early hours. This was a big negative for me. Booked a room with a bath as needed to soak and was only given a shower - small niggle.

I actually stayed at this hotel unintentionally for two nights (this being the second) and the first night booking was decent 8/10 leading me to book again. This room again was a good size and the breakfast (as much as buffet style full english can be) was decent. The restaurant was also good and the staff efficient and friendly. It's still a great hotel despite my negative comments but alas I'd not stay again on a friday night / any time there was an event going on.
