Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAlthough the bathroom looks fab, the bath tub wasn't actually attached so we were too scared to use it as it wobbled when I sat in it! There were a few suspect looking electrical wires that were just taped up which wouldn't be the best if you've got kids. It was a real shame the pub was closed and to let as there's really nothing near by at all without a 20 min-30 min drive away. The kitchen was good, but could do with some more utensils and some better sponges for washing up.
The cottage was very nice and looked to be recently decorated. It was in a peaceful location and had a really comfy bed, nice cosy lounge and a small space for our car. It was all super clean and inviting.

United KingdomThe back door was unlocked on arrival at 8pm and not lockable. Our host was very helpful and able to direct me by phone call into the outside basement of the property and find a screwdriver to try and mend the lock. This wasn't the arrival we had hoped for after a 4 hour rainy tiring drive to the property. We managed to mend the door - but it was temporary and the lock receiver needed to be fiddled with and tightened each time we went into the garden. We weren't always able to mend and lock the door and so we had to take our valuables when we went out as we didn't want to leave belongings in the house when it was unlocked - it was an inconvenience - a pain. The water pressure was very low on the hot water - a very beautiful bath - but took 45 minutes to fill
The cottage was very homely and we appreciated the garden and opportunity to sit out - however we didn't use it so much in case the door wouldn't lock. The front room was comfy and the kitchen was well equipped with china/ utensils. Parking at the property was very helpful. Beds were comfy. Big bath Spotless property Host was very communicative

As described online, comfortable seating in lounge. Nice sized bedrooms & huge bathroom . Small shop across the road stocked anything you may have forgotten. Unfortunately no close pub or eating as all closed or only serve at weekend

ItalyI didn’t get that Aberystwyth was 15 mins by car and this was a little disappointing. Next time I have to read carefully. The parking spot requires some skills 😉
Nice cottage well equipped. There’s also a little garden in the backyard. Beds are comfortable and, though the house is right on the street, the place is very quiet.

United KingdomParking is really on street. The off road parking space is tiny. As suggestion, a blind on the inner window of storeroom above stairs would allow for greater privacy when moving from bathroom.
Very easy to find. Pleasant property to stay in.

United KingdomParking outside house a bit tricky but there is parking nearby. Weather was wet and cold so we were not as cosy as hoped.
Comfortable, quiet, handy village shop nearby. Very convenient for Aber where we were doing an art course. Good kitchen and comfy beds.

United StatesIt wasn't entirely clear that the property was as far from Aberystwyth as it is, so a little confusing to find, but a call to host got it sorted.
Comfortable, spacious, very quiet, with a home-like atmosphere. Host was extremely helpful. Would gladly stay again.

United KingdomStayed here over the recent May Bank Holiday as we were attending a family wedding in the area. The cottage is tastefully decorated & furnished & has a great mixture of both traditional/modern features. The modern kitchen is well equipped & had everything we needed. The bathroom has the wow factor, with a fabulous freestanding bath & separate shower. The beds were so comfortable and we all enjoyed a couple of nights restful sleep. Very easy to park right outside the cottage & only a short drive into Aberystwyth centre & seafront. I would have no hesitation in recommending Adail Cottage & would definitely stay again. Many thanks to the host, Louise, who kept in touch & gave us her number, should any problems arise. Overall, it was a fabulous weekend & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like was the parking outside the cottage. It states there's parking . It hasn't been made as a parking area and it was extremely hard to park my car in front. There is no pavement outside the cottage. So cars were coming down at speed . I was worried that if my car was sticking out little, it would've been knocked. All other spaces near the area were private because we asked .
The cottage was a beautiful and looked very old. I would've liked to have read some history on it. Everything we needed was there and it was comfortable.

United KingdomWe couldn't get the heating to work in the bathroom, and it had just turned a bit nippy. Also the HUGE bath takes ages to fill as it only has very hot or cold out of the mixer tap. but really they're just minor things and having spoken with the host on the phone i'm sure we could have resolved quickly if it was a problem for us.
Cottage is deceptively large when looking from the outside, it seems to go on forever. The beds were super comfortable and all the bedding was excellent. The kitchen is brand new and had everything we would need from a utensils perspective. It feels very homely and although we were only staying one night, it would be a good base for additional nights. The host had left a heater on for us which took some of the chill out the house which was appreciated.
