Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThey could have more secure doors. They felt a bit flimsy. They also provide tea and coffee, but some milk sachets would have been nice. Lucky we took our own.
Lovely little cottage. Easy check in and out. Had a very relaxing weekend, perfect place to shut off and spend some quality time with the partner. Very clean and tidy, comfortable and had everything we needed for the weekend. Brought our own food and cooked throughout the weekend. Fully stocked kitchen made it feel like we were at a home from home.

Francesome of the neighbors can be a bit noisy, luck of the draw, the houses are not very widely separated
nice for a friend group, independent rooms and common areas. Equipment rather oriented for shorter stays, and people who don’t cook too much (we are french, we have high expectations !). The coop in Beauly is 6mn away and very well appointed.

United Kingdomthe main castle is a wedding venue and this was a (very well) converted modern behind larger multi lettable buildings. very quiet when we were there. not sure the concept has worked. no reception on arrival, no way of finding the cottage or accessing it. rang to be told the company would email and hopefully we would hear from somebody! we found an estate manager on site and got sorted.
self contained and good space with two rooms, one as a lounge plus small kitchen and two bathrooms.

United StatesThe third party email I received did have clear or easy instructions on how to collect keys. I still gave a 5 star rating though because of how excellent the staff was when I called and asked for help upon arrival.

United KingdomThere were a lot of dead flies, some dead spiders and dead caterpillar looking things around the houses. It may have been that the house had not been used for some time before our group booking however I did have to hoover certain areas on arrival which I shouldn’t have had to be doing. If the houses had been properly cleaned of this I think the whole party would’ve had a more enjoyable stay. I had some issues getting in touch with the property and to receive the entry code prior to arrival which was a bit stressful being leader of a large group booking. I only received this a few hours before arrival after struggling to get in touch. The code was then wrong for one of our houses and the phone signal wasn’t good to get in touch with reception, however when I called Cara came right away and let us in as couldn’t hear what I was asking due to signal. Similar issue wifi wise - it wasn’t clear how to join on the box (different name & password) and I couldn’t open my welcome letter with instructions to connect due to low signal, make sure to take a snap shot or instructions on the box would be helpful too.
Nice location, set up of room size/layouts and very comfy beds. The surroundings were nice and plenty of nice walks around. The living spaces were spacious although a couple of items not working as they should, the wine fridge being one and extra baking trays would have been handy too. The house only had one so we ended up bringing up from the 2nd house we had booked so wasn’t too much of an issue. Taxis to Inverness city centre approx £22-29 depending on car size which we were happy to pay. Robes in the wardrobes were a really nice touch too and plenty towels etc available to use.

United KingdomWe found on arrival that the cottage we had was not as pictured. It was a tiny one bedroomed building, possibly a converted garage. The kitchen door to outside was unlockable and had been amateurishly fixed, there was not any space in the miniscule DIY type scruffy kitchen for a dishwasher or washing machine, extractor covered in dust. No space to move in the tiny kitchen space. TV didn’t fit properly on its table, random pictures/photos all crooked on the wall. In adjacent garage type building some unfinished building works exposed and a child could fall in and badly injure itself. All in all a deceptive listing on booking.com for a scruffy tiny building in poor condition. Price a total rip off just taking advantage of tourists but giving an appalling impression of highland hospitality to the poor unsuspecting visitor. We live in Inverness and will advise anyone to steer clear of the place.
The bed was comfortable
