Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room could’ve been cleaner, and we had tried to push the twin beds together but they were different heights, but we found this really funny and it’s made for a good story about our trip, it depends how fussy you are but for us it was great.
The property was excellent value for money, just 10 minutes from the town and pier, with lots of good bars based locally and 24 hour access from private keys, you can’t argue with it, and the owner is polite, funny and well informed on the area.

United KingdomThe property is very run down and basic, we had trouble with the bed being uncomfortable, the shower was very slow, and the pool wasn’t heated as it was advertised
The owners of the property were lovely and very helpful, the hotel is in a great location, close to the centre of town and with good parking facilities.

United KingdomFairly cheap hotel with dated decor. Could do with modernising but at the end of the day, the owners are in their "golden years". Although dated - the place is clean with rooms cleaned every day we we're there and it's pretty good value considering it's £80 a night and your in Torquay. You'll pay a lot more down the seafront!
It's a 2* hotel that is only a few minutes walk to the beach, litterally 2 streets. Torquay is a great place to go for a few nights getaway. Very scenic and some good walking routes. Besides Torquay itself, some other great places are with 20 minutes drive away such as Brixham and Shaldon/Teignmouth - both well worth a visit. For the Hotel itself - Ken the owner if a friendly old chap. They have a pool in the back.

United KingdomIt was a bit of a walk from the sea front and no entertainment in the hotel but the host said it was a lot quieter since covid and most people go into the town at night.
The hotel is basic but the host Ken was so accommodating and friendly he even opened the bar so we could have a drink by the outside pool which is a real bonus and the kids really enjoyed it. The room was clean and very spacious and the beds were comfy so we enjoyed our stay!

United KingdomThe room I had was very very tired , had a noisy boiler system like a kettle boiling for hours above you . Sash windows kept no noise out . The bedsprings are knackered and every movement was accompanied by creaking and groaning .. a toilet roll holder , or even to supply toilet roll would be an advantage ... But hey it was cheap ... However I've just stayed in a super modern hotel in Portugal with every modern con you could wish for with full English included for 33 quid ... So it can be done 👍

United KingdomOnly one biscuit for 3 people, and two coffee cups. I feel the outside could of done with a spruce up.
The owner was pleasant and very helpful with our bags. However the room was not equipped for the 3 of us staying. Only two cup and towels for two people when there was 3 of us staying. But thankfully bc we brought our own. On the last night of the stay the people in the room opposite were very noisy opening and slamming doors but on the whole the room was clean and beds were comfortable.

United KingdomCould do with somewhere to change after going in the pool, because you don't want to walk back through the carpeted hotel dripping wet. The weather was lovely but still not hot enough to dry wet costumes, so we held towels around each other and managed.
The view from our second floor rooms was incredible. We felt like we were abroad. We could see the palm trees and the pool, but also we had a fine view of the sea and the hillside with trees, buildings and a beautiful church. As the sun went down and the lights started to come on, out and about, the view changed to a more relaxed summer evening. Lovely. We went for a walk to the harbour and of course sampled fish and chips on the sea front. We didn't eat at the hotel, as no need, so cannot comment on that. The staff were friendly and helpful and met our needs. (Our son has special needs). We went in the pool. It was clean (except for a few rogue leaves) safe and tidy. We will definitely go again.
