Bar not open due to staff shortages, room could of done with a clean & on the whole the hotel looked tired & run down

The mattress on one of the beds in the room needs replacing, springs have gone and was very uncomfortable. No aircon and no ability to open any windows so the room was sweltering and the fans provided did nothing. Carpet was stained and furniture was worn/damaged from previous guests. Only got one pillow per guest and despite the room being booked for four people, we only got 2 towels (I went to reception and asked for more and this was rectified but should have been in the room already)

Room had everything as described on booking. Check in/reception staff were friendly and helpful when we needed extra towels.

No direct parking but good discount from local car parks. The mattress was very thin which made it very uncomfortable, this was the biggest downfall for me.

The staff are incredibly warming and welcoming. The room was beautiful and relaxing with a lovely view of the docks. It’s in a great location and about 5 minutes walk from capital one.

The bathroom was big but there was lots of mould/mildrew on the bathroom tiles especially around the jacuzzi area and mirror. This could have easily be cleaned with mould cleaner. The white bin was rusty and could quite easily be replaced at little cost, the sink was leaking. I advised reception when I checked out in the morning, the receptionist said they are closing shortly for a re furb, but that doesn’t stop someone cleaning the tiles and elsewhere properly. There was also dust on the bedside lights and behind the bathroom door. A general clean of the windows would be good too. A little tired in places ie stains on the carpet, small rip on the bed. The fire doors between rooms were grubby, again easily cleaned by general everyday cleaning.

The location was perfect for me to wander rnd the shops and restaurants. Not too far from family n friends. The receptionists were great. The male receptionist ( Neil I think) was amazing 👏

‘Old’ and in need of refurb. Pieces missing in carpets in room and couldn’t close curtains. Had to get a lovely member of staff to come up at midnight when we got in, to bring a chair to do it-high ceilings.

This place used to feel like a luxury to stay in. Now it's run down and tired. Only two cups (chipped) in the room even though booked for 3 adults, carpet stained, toilet leaked, skirting board peeling and needed to be replaced. Feels like it was once loved now a bit forgotten although still expensive. We have stayed here a good few times but can't imagine we will return.

Staff are lovely and helpful. Easy check in. And reception staff great on the phone when I rang to ask for some information.

If you arrive early Bags are left in an unlocked room . Simply locking this would be so much better .

We booked a Luxury Suite @ £197 for 1 night, and it definitely was not luxury, nothing like pictures on the website, stain on mattress protector,, 1 pillow each, bathroom lighting not great even with a mirror light, and 1 shelf not great for 2 adults, a dresser type table in the room would be good and stable chair, the room could look good if the mould and marks on the ceiling were dealt with and the floor fixed and lick of paint,, the bathroom grout around the jacuzzi bath is also full of mould. In my opinion, not Luxury nor a Suite and overpriced.

Carpets needed a little refreshening. Change the color of the seating area in the turret… Made me think it was a swingers club, maybe cushions instead of the big ice bucket.

The presidential suite was lovely and spacious.. Loved the decor, it’s an old building full of charm. We stayed the following night at a nearby more popular hotel and were really disappointed we hadn’t chosen two nights at James Street. The staff were lovely, and attentive. We had fully stocked coffee station, a large table and chairs, beds were comfy. We especially loved staying up late, gossiping in the extra extra large bath tub with an amazing view. It was amazing, will definitely stay again.

A few things were damaged and ageing, could do with updating. The breakfast was very disappointing. Lots of things missing and not a great variety.

Nice building, nice decor. Spa bath was great. Lovely reception. Staff very friendly.

I didn't like the fact of having to pay and insurance of £50 on card witch I got told I would have back 15 days later and I'm still waiting now

The staff wer great the jetcuzy didn't work so we moved rooms I got the staff to put Rose pettles on the bed and balloons and champagne for my anniversary
