Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe place needs bringing up to date. It's very basic, like an office that's been converted into accommodation with old furniture and a kitchen and bathroom that was modern many years ago. I don't know how bigger people than me at 158 cms tall and slim manage to shower. Get rid of the washing machines and make the shower bigger. I didn't know that there would be steps up to the apartment. The shower leaked. There was only 1 bowl and 1 fork. The wc cistern lid was broken which made flushing the loo difficult. One of the coat hooks in the passage fell of the wall because it wasn't anchored properly.

AustraliaThe accommodation is in a great location - easy to use buses, trains and underground. It is a very vibrant area with lots of places to eat and shop. There is a Tesco express just down the road which was very handy.

AustraliaThe one bedroom apartment 204 had a leak in the bathroom ceiling coming from the bathroom above 204 where water was falling down into the shower from the light over the shower and paint was peeling off the ceiling causing concern about electric shock. The other matter was there were no instructions in the apartment to inform us how the kitchen appliances worked. A typed set of instructions were usually there but not this trip.
Location was invaluable. Staff helpful when needed but reporting a problem with a potential electrical fault was unable to be remedied as the maintenance staff had left for the day and it was Friday.

Hong KongBooked a studio flat with decorator repainting the walls and very old carpet. Room size is good but very bad lighting at night especially if you need to work. No bed side lighting. Tiny shower cubicle. Window blinds are useless. I was told that everything in the room can be replenished except the 2 bottles of water which is odd as that would cost the least but would be most convenient to the guest. Would be great if they could supply tea towel and kitchen paper. Best of all, the hand soap dispenser is right above the shaver sockets. That's a real hazard. The washing machine didn't work so I was relocated to a 1 bedroom with facilities I would have expected in the studio too. At least a more acceptable shower cubicle and better lighting.
Excellent location across the station and helpful staff. Huge windows with air con. 24/7 reception with a lift.

United StatesPOOR HOSPITALITY: Had booked non-refundable but needed to change dates due to unexpected event. Gave the property more than a month notice requesting if we could change dates for a nominal fee but were told that our tickets were non-refundable/non-changeable but we could speak with booking.com directly to see if they can make an exception. When I reached out to booking they said they would need to check with the property manager who came back with the same response that the tickets were non-changeable. There seemed to be no willingness to have a conversation or be accommodating even though we were giving ample notice and were confirming we would be rebooking for a later date. We were provided normal booking.com instruction for arrival information which was ‘property will provide details closer to check-in’. We also included in our reservation that we would be arriving between 11am-12pm but they never responded back confirming whether that could be honored or not. When we arrived they told us check in is at 3pm as though that was a fact, which was what the reservation says but many places have at the very least responded back saying ‘thank you for sharing your arrival time and we will do the best we can to accommodate but please keep in mind that official checking is at X time.’ We were able to store our luggage until check in free of cost—a service they also offered after check out if we had a later flight. For check out, there weren’t really any clear instructions so we just assumed we needed to hand in cards and call it done. Fortunately that ended up being the case, but we received no reiteration for check out time or any other procedures. ADDITIONAL CONS: The bedding was a bit annoying. There was a flat sheet used instead of a fitted sheet and came untucked very easily. The comforter was the right size for the bed but with two people was not wide enough and there weren’t additional blankets to accommodate.
GREAT LOCATION: Location was very walkable to many locations around the east side of City of London, Brick Lane, and Shoreditch. If you’re willing to walk other things are accessible such as Borough Market, Tower of London & Tower Bridge, Blackfriars, and even Covent Garden. If walking is not your level of comfort, Liverpool Street station if a great central station which is right across the entrance is great for lines that either go to many parts of the city or quickly connect to other lines that get where you need to go. There are also multiple bus stops right outside that go to a fair number of parts of central and greater London. On either side of the entrance is a Boots (for toiletries and medicine) and Tesco (for groceries). They are also heaps of places to eat and drink all within a 1-2 block radius, with Spitalfield Market about a 5-10 minute walk away. AMPLE SPACE: We were two adults in a single apartment. Felt like the living room was decent size so we could both move around. There was a desk space which was great for doing a small bit of work as well as a sofa and chair around a coffee table and tv. There was a heater/air con unit in the living room area. The bedroom was spacious and came with plenty of wardrobe room for all of our things for a week. The bed was a good size, though it only came with the one comforter and no additional blankets, which was not really big enough to cover both of us. There was a good powerful fan in the bedroom to keep airflow and white noise. The kitchen was pretty well stocked: washer, fridge/freezer, microwave, stovetop/oven, and dishes for three. It is a cabinet sized fridge/freezer combo, so don’t expect to be able to store more than a few things. There is a kettle, espresso maker, and handful of coffee/tea supplies readily available. Bathroom didn’t feel cramped. We had a tub/shower with great pressure and ample hot water.
