“The food was great! On most nights, there is an option to pre-book an evening meal. The choice was very good and the standard of cooking was excellent for a property of this size. Mac, the chef, was very mindful of allergies if notified in advance. In addition, you could bring your own wine/beer, so this kept the cost down. Breakfast was very good, too. The owners of the lodge are trying to be more eco-friendly. This meant that rather than little sachets of milk in the tea tray, fresh milk was provided daily. Also, there was a place to put recyclables, homemade marmalade was served in little reused jars, butter was provided in little pots, and lots of thought had gone into finding ways to reduce waste. We really liked that! The room is not serviced daily unless specifically requested - once again to reduce waste - and we liked the fact that no-one had been in, moving everything around! The garden was a lovely place to sit on a sunny day. Cath and Mac were great hosts.”
