Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KazakhstanI lived on the 4th floor, there is no bathroom. So I had to go 2 floors down every time. But it’s fine. Also the hostel does not provide you with towels, so you have your own or pay extra for rental.
I liked the staff, all the receptionists are really polite. Also, the clean bedsheets and rooms in general.

Only stayed for less than 24 hours so I wasn't able to try the breakfast. The staffs were nice and accommodating, I don't know how to speak french but the staff speaks english so it was nice. However, location wise, if you're traveling with lots of luggages, be prepare to walk a bit. (note that the footpath are cobblestones) so it might be little hard to drag the luggages. Another downside was the lack of elevator too. Overall, it was manageable. Bathroom is okay. Staff helped me carry my luggages on the way to my room.

CroatiaThe downside was the black mold on the ceiling in the shower, which definitely needs attention.
The staff was really friendly, the luggage storage was secure, and the room was spacious. The location was in a safe neighborhood, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and clubs nearby—perfect for young people looking to explore the nightlife. Plus, they had affordable coffee and soft drinks in the lobby.

United KingdomThat there was only 1 double socket in the room for 4 beds. It did also get noisy at night so unless you sleep easily then you could be disturbed by the bar opposite. There is a small kitchen downstairs with a big fridge and a microwave but no other cooking facilities, which was a shame. That said there is plenty of places to eat in the area, street food and restaurants at reasonable prices. The crepes are gorgeous and cheap imo.
It was clean and cleaned daily. The rooms were big with lockers inside, you just need to bring a padlock. It's in a great location with lots of places to eat and bars. Has a great vibe about it. There is a supermarket right next door, which I used for my breakfast of warm croissants and pastries. The staff were lovely and helpful. I wanted a run locally and a lady told me about Les Jardins which were nearby. Beautiful too, so well worth a visit. There are also a few metro stations nearby too, do getting about was easy enough. I would definstely stay here again.

IrelandThe lockers inside the room are extremely noisy, old and not clean. There is no light for each bunkbed which makes difficult to arrive late in the room and not turning in the main light in respect for others. Also there is no plugs near the beds to charge the phones. The cleaning is very bad, we stayed for 3 nights with people coming in and out and nobody cleaned the toilet in respect for the next guest. I asked two Times to someone clean the toilet and change a soaked towel on the floor that was smelly, and nobody did.
Staff were friendly. There is living room where you can play and interact with other guests and it is is very cozy. We stayed in a mixed shared room for 6 people and the room is quite spacious, descent bunk beds. Hostel also offers drinks for good money. Location is superb, surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants, walking distance to pantheon and metro.

ThailandKitchen (microwave/sink/fridge) was not that clean but it's part of hostel life I guess. Same goes with the shower, even if it was cleaned everyday it gets dirty quite fast because of how small it was and the fact that people go in with their outdoor shoes. Also people in my room (mostly Europeans) were not super respectful (turning on the light super early/super late and also talking until 1 or 2 am). Towels are an extra service that you need to pay for
The staff was super nice and helpful ! The location is really great and the room was cleaned everyday which was a plus!

United KingdomSuggestive: Several problems if addressed will make the place a very attractive stay 1. Beds super creaky, couldn't sit without waking everyone up, 2. bathrooms are common for all genders. They being quite small and less in number, its a bit awkward, 3. the bathroom area has no door! there is a wide exposed opening to the main corridor. Though toilets and baths have doors, its uncomfortable to use the sink/come out of the toilet while people are passing outside openly looking at you, 4. toilet floor had muddy prints but was never cleaned for a whole day, 5. baths had a fixed shower with no temperature control! Either scalding or cold water viciously attacking you at a fixed angle, 6. not enough hooks in the baths to keep stuff, 7. I am a bit doubtful about blankets without covers, are they ever washed? 8. locker in the room was small and you need your own locks, 9. beds and lockers are all metallic, made lot of clanky sound, 9. pubs just outside can keep you up very late, 10. No hooks, no shelves, no cloth hangars in the room, no bedside shelf to put small stuff, 11. only few plug points in the far wall and beside the door, none close to beds. There was an incident - a specially-abled lady was staying in my room. She was hearing impaired and hence was making loud sounds whenever she moved around-using the room sink early morning, banging the chairs and tables, slamming doors. She wouldn't allow anyone but herself to use the only 2 chairs in the room, and if I tried to request she made loud sounds, rudely gestured me to shut up and sleep, and once almost pushed me out of the room and shut the door loudly behind me (all of this at 11 pm when others were sleeping). I understand she was not of sound mind, but hostel authorities should make special arrangements for them, such as get them a separate room. No one could sleep because of her loud acts. I complained about this to one staff member, he said he will talk to her but didn't seem bothered at all.
The room was clean and big enough, windows were big with proper double curtains. Sheets were washed and clean. The staff who checked me in was very nice and helpful. Common area is good for relaxing/working. Luggage can be stored free for extra time. Its a pub lane - lots of them just across the road, right in front and in the area. Very busy circle nearby, with great restaurants, book shops, gift shops and clothes/jewellery outlets- also awesome boulangeries. There are several roadside crepe stands to try out. Its an artsy, cultural and happening area. Very close to the Pantheon, 20 mins walk to the Notre Dame, 7 mins walk to the nearest metro station. Front desk has water and a paid coffee machine, Kitchen is there but no breakfast facilities.

United StatesNo sockets by the bed, but there are sockets in the room. No toilet or shower on my floor, stairs are spiral and very narrow to walk down at night with no light I could find initially. But I discovered a switch and turned it on after a few dark journeys up and down the stairs. Showers did not have adequate places to put clean clothes/dirty clothes/toiletries. My key card quit working several times necessitating a walk down three flights of stairs and back up to have it reset. A little loud at night with being on a very active street.
Great Wi-Fi and location. Bed was firm and comfortable. Kitchen. Windows create a nice breeze in September. Staff were nice. I felt safe and secure as a solo female traveler walking and running through the area. Lots of restaurants on the block.

But I did check in in the morning when I was literally slowly understanding everything but receptionist was real nice and help me to make coffee and also help me to check address where came my uber driver. 1 things what sometimes happens it is I don’t have working showers on my floor. But I would like to say everything was clean. It is so important and bed was really comfortable. I really like we have opportunity to wash our hands in room because I wearing contacts I should have opportunity do that at room. I really would recommend that hostel in future. And price and location amazing. I can walking everywhere by myself.
