Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were in one of the annex rooms which while excellent if we wanted a hot drink we had to walk around the main building to get hot water. A kettle in the room would have been good.
Breakfast was good. The location was excellent we were able to walk into the town and having good parking meant that we were able to get into he surrounding countryside very easily. The hosts were charming.

It's an amazing place with a comfortable room, a fantastic bathroom, friendly staff and a beautiful view. There is no other place I would think of staying in lovely Sarlat-la-Canéda. I definitely enjoyed my stay and am very grateful for the kindness and professionalism. I was thinking of coming back for another trip and will definitely stay there to get to know the area better.

Lovely property in an excellent location. The room was really spacious and had the added benefit of a sun terrace. The complimentary drinks and snacks was an additional bonus. Having the use of a lift to take your cases to the first floor was also really useful. The hosts Chris & Amanda were also very welcoming & friendly.

Little more than a stones throw away from the medieval streets of Sarlat, this exceptional deluxe guest house is elegant and offers outstanding comfort and quality, with attention given to the smallest detail under the watchful eye of the owners who provided excellent service from start to finish.

This is an exceptional property, run by on site managers. Chris offered to pick us up from the train station on arrival - this being something that as regular travellers has never happened by any host. Our apartment was magnificent with full kitchen, being in the whole top floor we were amazed by its size. Pictures do not do this boutique hotel justice. The breakfast (for modest $), the guest mini bar and so many other wonderful ‘extras’ were a delight. Highly recommend this property at the edge of the old town overlooking parkland if ever seeking a luxury escape without the high price tag.

We had a wonderful warm welcome from Chris when we arrived feeling very hot and tired from a long motorbike trip. The first thing we noticed was that the property is stunning. Chris and Amanda have worked very hard to produce beautiful accommodation. The quality of the furnishings are very high and well thought out. The rooms were very large, spacious and spotlessly clean. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the bed linen was lovely. The bathrooms had a bath and a separate shower enclosure with plenty of fresh towels. Breakfast was very tasty with a good selection of products. I have a problem with gluten and cow/goat dairy products, Chris went out of his way to ensure that there was gluten free bread, sheep yoghurt and sheep cheese available for me to eat. Sara, who looked after us at breakfast, was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed sitting on the shared roof terrace listening to the birds and other wildlife. The added bonus for us was the very secure garage for our motorbikes. The property is very close to the centre of Sarlat - just a short walk across the car park and you are amongst the cafes/restaurants. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

The house was very enjoyable to stay in and was only a very short walk to the old town. The hosts were both very helpful (assisting us with sightseeing alternatives) and provided a fantastic breakfast option - complete with fresh bakery items as well as cereal, fruit and yoghurt. The complementary coffee/tea and snacks was an unexpected, but welcome treat. All the staff went out of their way to make the stay very enjoyable.
