Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandSublime breakfast! Beautiful views from their backyard terrace, it truly was a morning delight. Overall a very beautiful, boutique hotel. Beautiful grounds, loads of cute seating nooks around. Our room was accommodating and the size of our bathroom was surprisingly large. Nice amenities and loved the shower gel. Staff was professional, prompt and knowledgeable. Location was extremely handy for us since we didn’t have much time, it’s very close to the center of Angers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

United KingdomThat I couldn't stay longer.
You really feel like royalty staying in this chateau. Facilities are superb, they paid attention to every detail. I can't believe you can stay in a place like that for what is an average hotel price.

United KingdomBreakfast is expensive, though it was excellent with lots of choice and high quality. But you did feel you had to eat lots to get your money’s worth.
The building has a lot of character, set in attractive grounds with mature trees. The weather was a bit too wet to explore these but we walked down to the river and also very much enjoyed the view from our balcony on the top floor, a great view over the river and floodplain with distant views of egrets and spoonbills. As they are out of town there is a snack menu offered, we didn’t need it but good to have the option. The room was very comfortable and it’s great to have a kettle and coffee maker. Staff were very helpful and contacted us in advance with lots of information.

United KingdomThe only thing they could do better is to increase the choice on the drinks menu, to include some aperitifs and digestifs. A very minor point.
A spotlessly clean, well appointed room in the annex, next to a beautiful Chateau, in its own grounds. What's not to like? Being able to book in on arrival for a very good dinner, was an unexpected bonus. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is quite pricey, but in return you get something way better than normal, with freshly cooked eggs available to order, and a huge choice of food.

United KingdomMy only negative comment is very trivial. The cutlery felt uncomfortable to use. I did say say it was trivial and, with my own belief in sustainable practices, I am certainly not going to recommend replacing the cutlery!!
Chateau des Forges is a charming 19th century house and it was delightful to stay there. We had chosen it because we were en route from the Portsmouth-Caen ferry to visit family in northern Spain. Arriving in Caen at 4 in the afternoon, the chateau was only 3 hours drive away, so it was perfect for an overnight stop. Additionally it is only a few minutes' away from the motorway. Although the motorway was nearby, the chateau and its grounds were very quiet. We had an amazingly large en-suite room on the first floor with a balcony which looked out over a swimming pool and a wooded landscape to a river - la Mayenne. If your expectation is the standard corporate blandness of well-known hotel chains, you will be disappointed. I would say that the ethos of the hotel is one that is concerned with the environment with sustainability being central to their operations. Rooms are furnished tastefully with recycled and re-purposed furniture. Our bed was very comfortable. The team at Chateau des Forges were very welcoming, friendly and helpful with an informal manner which I liked. The chateau does not have a full evening meal service. Instead they have their Menu Snack which offers a starter, main and dessert, a la carte, so you can have all the courses or one or two. The choice is limited but there are vegetarian options in all courses. You can also order drinks. The food is good, reasonably priced and at the end you feel you have dined well. In advance of your stay the team send you a menu and ask you to inform them of your choice by the afternoon of your arrival. I am sure this is part of their sustainability practices as it clearly avoids food wastage in the kitchen. Breakfast was excellent with a full continental buffet and you can also order a warm dish such as omelette with cheese, ham etc.. The whole experience was so charming and comfortable that we booked to stay there on our return journey.

United KingdomWe felt that the state of the gardens could have been better, but probably due to the time of the year. Lovely stay in a Chateau.
It was our final stop on our trip from our home in the South of Spain to spend Christmas with family in the UK. The Chateau was excellent, the lady we met on arrival was lovely and arranged our evening meal.. The room was large and comfortable, very French. Dog friendly and parking. We enjoyed our short stay, thank you.
