Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainWifi did not reach my room on 3rd floor at all. Blankets that are used on the bed during autumn and spring season should be changed/cleaned as often as the bed linen. Finding hair on it made me slightly uneasy.
Location, size of the room, shower. Reception staff accommodating approach and attitude.

BelgiumIt is basic, there was no TV, and no staff after 7pm (reception closed, self-access by door code)..
The hotel is basic but with much charm, located in an townhouse down a quiet street in the heart of the old town. For the location the price is good value. The room was a good size, with desk and good wifi, the shower room not too cramped. The neighbourhood is safe, it is close to tram, shops and restaurants, and walking distance from most sights.

AustriaOverall, we were content with our stay at Hotel Praticia. The rooms were nice and clean; however, the rooms were cold. The staff was friendly. Also, the location was fantastic - a few minutes of walking to the main sights.

New ZealandThe shared bathroom was up 2 flights of stairs so getting an ensuite would be much better. My door was squeaky which would've been annoying for my neighbors early in the morning. There was apparently a kettle that guests could use but no one was in reception in the evening to ask about this unfortunately.
The location was great- so close to sights and restaurants in the Old town, metro nearby & it's only a 15min walk to the train station. The room was very tidy and bed was comfortable. I thought this was a good 2-star option in a great location.

United Arab EmiratesA) The floors and stairs were creaky and noisy B) For me, the price for one night was 58 euros, which should be cheaper for such accommodation.
A) Samanta, the receptionist, was truly friendly and available for help. B) Althought old-fashioned style, the hotel offers everything a person might need. C) As a three-star hotel, it had comfy beds and mattresses along with nice pillows. D) The shared bath came with pleasing hot water at a proper pressure. E) Shared toilets were really clean F) Just 5-10 minutes to major landmarks

Czech Republic- possibility of late arrival using the access code - cleanliness - welcoming staff who are friendly and ready to help * example: I forgot to bring shampoo and the lovely lady at the reception gave me shampoo and I could borrow a hairdryer * I could leave my luggage at the luggage room even after check-out - location in the city centre and near the main bus station - feel of history inside the building

ItalyThe stuff wasn't very welcoming, the front door didn't close at all, so it was always open and we could only leave our luggages until 18:30, but there wasn't a guarantee that my language wouldn't have been stolen. I suggest to take a photo of the luggages when someone leaves them.
I liked that there were a lot of blankets and towels, in general the room was nice. Also the location was good.

BulgariaThe Wi-Fi is slow and it kept disconnecting us. The stairs are really creaky. There is no AC and it gets very hot in the middle of August.
The location was AMAZING. Right in the middle of the city, everything is in walking distance, close to the public transport. I also really loved the vibe and the building - it matched the city very well and was really pretty. The curtains blocked out the sun well.

VietnamJuly is a hot month. There are no air conditioners in the room, just a small fan so it is hard to sleep if you close the window. If you open the window, may be it is not safe and many insect fly into the room. No lift in the building, so it is a problem if you have heavy luggage and stay on the higher floors.
The location is rather good.

AustraliaThere are only two shared toilets and one bathroom on different floors. The bathroom has been renovated, but the toilets need to be. It gets quite hot in the summer and there is only a table fan to deal with it.
It’s an older style, basic hotel in a very old building in a quiet neighbourhood on the edge of the old town. There’s a tram stop nearby and it’s not far from the bus and train stations. The staff are pleasant but maintain a limited presence. It’s a short walk to everything on the island.

SwitzerlandWe had a broken shower. It couldn’t be switched between rain-shower and hand-shower. There was just a small sample of shampoo for a three-night-stay. Nothing to really bother me. All in all it was a good stay at a modest price and we would likely return!!
The location is superb. Right at Little France and close to the river! The room was cosy, simple but nice, staff was very friendly. In the night the area is quiet and in the daytime you’re right in the middle of the city. Nice furnished common areas.
