Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyRoom is bit small. My room had no desk, so I had to go to lobby for working.
Location is great in the Paris. Lots of place for eating and sight see. If you are looking for lively place in the Paris, great place to stay for sure. Hotel is clean and easy usage for all the age / gender. Big lobby for casual business usage.

United KingdomOne of our towels had black marks on it, we didn't have a fridge or an iron in the room, however there is an ironing room so it's not like we had to wear creased clothing.
The hotel had all of the basic facilities that you need and is affordable to stay.

United KingdomSmall rooms which is to be expected in Paris; would have become a problem if we were staying longer than three nights perhaps.
Small and functional rooms, fine for a short city break. Good communal facilites in the lobby, free coffee is a very nice touch! The location in the Bastille was perfect for us - great food, drink and shopping options nearby, and not too far from the more obvious centre of Paris. Overall, on the basis that you don't get much bang for your buck in Paris, this is much better than other budget accommodation we have stayed in for sure.

United KingdomThe shower couldn’t keep a consistent temperature and the water was usually either way too hot or cold, and you had to make extremely small adjustments to the temperature to get a tolerable temperature.
The room was lovely, modern and clean, and a good size for a hotel room in Paris. The location was great and close to nearly everything we wanted to do and go to, with great transport links.

United StatesThe lobby. Too cutesy and cluttered. No comfortable seating. The music- ugh. Bar was the focus. The bathroom had a tub-- wasted space in such tight quarters.
Small room, but having a window that opened (if only a few inches) helped a lot. Liked having a chair and but no workspace and minimal space for luggage and clothes.

United KingdomNo closets or hooks to hang stuff for a week's travel. No kettle in the room. They did maintenance on our last day so we had no water in the room and had to shower in a different room.

United KingdomThe only problem if I had to find one would be the size of the rooms we struggled to get into our larger suitcase because there wasn't much floor room to open it.
Everything. Staff were lovely, the bar staff were brilliant the rooms were clean and the hotel was modern and really close to multiple metro routes.

AustraliaSecond bed (sofa bed) not comfortable. Definitely not suitable for an adult. Ground floor next to the road was noisy and disconcerting being so close to the road). Tired carpets. Felt like a youth hostel.
Great location. Love the relaxed vibe. Staff friendly. New bathroom and comfortable main bed. Good amount of space for central Paris.

NetherlandsThe room has zero space for two suitcases except if you put them on top of the bed, and the person who sleeps in the bed by the window has a hard time moving into the bathroom in the middle of the night without hitting their toes. The rooms could be improved by some simple measures: - Throw out the huge arm chair in the corner, which would enable more walking space between the beds - Put a proper night stand with some drawers between the two beds, - Hang the TV higher and put some additional clothing racks on the walls. - Install beds that have open space beneath them to store the suitcases. - Climate control: We literally had to turn it off at night, because even though we dialed it down to 18C, it continued to blow hot air into the room, so the room remained unbearably hot - between 24 and 26C. That's not a healthy sleeping temperature, especially as the comforter (down?) was super hot too. Also, the room is overpriced for what you get in terms of space and amenities. I've had larger/ better rooms for less than €100 a night in Paris and other European capitals. We put the do not disturb sign on our door, which, for us, means, do not enter to make up the room, even if we are not in. Yet, when we returned at night, the room was made up and the sign was hanging inside again. That's a blatant disrespect of privacy, and I never had that happen anywhere in the world before.
I loved the concept: no-frills (no phone, no notepad, no desk etc.) rooms and bathrooms that were nicely updated, comfy beds, great community space, and it was close to a metro and a bus stop, also several excellent vegan restaurants in the neighborhood. Free bottomless coffee and tea in the lounge, soy milk available in the morning.

TaiwanOn one hand the location can't be beat. The place is sadly heading towards seedy with really tired carpet that smells like cigarette and feet. Cigarette smoke coming in through the AC at night. People smoking at the bar, no one trying to stop them. Do not book if you have allergies or value your lungs is all I can say.

United KingdomThe hotel takes a 30 euro per night per room supplement at check in. We booked 2 rooms for 5 nights so 300 euros. We did receive it back the day after check out but it was a bit of a shock as we didn't know about it.
We loved our stay at Roxy Bastille! The staff are super friendly and helpful and the location for us was absolutely perfect! We liked that we could help ourselves to coffee and teas whenever we chose and the welcome drink is much appreciated. It's close to some delicious restaurants, a mini supermarket and bakers. A pleasant walk through the beautiful Le Marais area takes you towards the Louvre (about 40 minutes). We would definitely stay here again!
