Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe decor is beautiful, everything curated with great care and exquisite taste, and the candlelit bar at night is stunning. As is the spa. One for people who love historic houses and quiet luxury.

After walking out of the CDG airport, the grungy and smoke-filled streets of Paris underwhelmed our entire family on our way to Maison Proust. It was so contrary to our mental image of Paris the magnificent and magical city of lights, that we had always read about —- but all that changed the moment we walked into Masion Proust. Our entire outlook changed- it felt like going into a whole different world. If a hotel were to personify the belle époque spirit of Paris, this would be that hotel. As my daughter best put it “this is how Paris is supposed to look like”. This hotel did not underdeliver on our high expectations from our first impressions, from the wonderful wonderful staff and of course, the magnificent pool, this hotel is something that should be thought of when people think about the glamour and beauty of Paris, of a golden age that is largely gone but lives on in Maison Proust.

United StatesNothing, it was perfect!
If there were a seven star rating on Booking.com, I would give Maison Proust Hotel & Spa La Mer seven stars! This is truly one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in, and the staff were so friendly and courteous! The interior design, by Jacques Garcia, is exquisite, with beautiful, original art chosen by the owners. But what puts this hotel over the top is the private pool and steam room. Each guest may book the pool for one hour a day to themselves in this beautiful, Moroccan-themed spa! When I arrived, I was stressed-out and over-worked; one hour at this pool and my stress melted away. Though the rooms are small, they are beautifully designed, quiet, and so nicely arranged. The bed was so comfortable and the staff delivered our breakfast in bed each morning on request. The room service menu does not disappoint, and the cocktails are so delicious in the beautiful bar. I have stayed at the Ritz, Paris and some of the best hotels all over the world. I would rate Maison Proust Hotel & Spa La Mer one of the very best. I have found my favorite hotel, and it will be my top choice whenever I am in Paris!

United KingdomAlthough the room we stayed was very beautifully decorated, the size could have been a bid bigger to accommodate the luggage and stuff of two adults.
Fantastic Location. Very beautiful decoration with unique fabrics and wall papers all over the place. the staff was super polite and helpful. the Spa facilities were fantastic considering this is a boutique city hotel. It was nice that there was always a discreet jazz music at the back in communal areas making our stay more relaxing. the bar offers well crafted cocktails.

CanadaYou can only book the Private Spa/Pool for one hour per day - I highly suggest you book in advance as well.
Having a Private Pool/Spa is very nice and you can also book a fantastic massage treatment in the room next to it. The hotel and all the rooms are gorgeous as well and very unique. If you want to stay in a fancy hotel in Paris, you have a lot of options on the table, but Maison Proust is easily the most unique.

United StatesThis property embodies everything you dream about when you think of Paris - luxury, beauty, attentiveness, romance! The hotel has all the details and more you’d expect from a 5-star boutique property, while also feeling bespoke (like you’re lucky to have found it). The staff were fabulous from the moment we arrived, and personalized the experience and service to us and our liking - the attentiveness was unparalleled. The hotel is tucked away from the busy street and noise, making it a perfect destination after touristy activities or when we wanted to simply relax. The staff are able to call or schedule cabs that arrive quickly, almost always luxury rides at regular cab prices. It is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at around the world and we will most certainly go back!

United StatesThe staff was incredibly kind. They went above and beyond to take care if all of our needs. The hammam after a long day of shopping museums and walking around the city is a must!! The owner was there everyday always making sure we enjoyed our stay and were well taken care of. Its so lovely to stay in a small and chic hotel where you can see that the owner cares so deeply and looks after the smallest but most important details. I have never left a review before but they were so kind and lovely to me and my teenage kids I will stay every time I come to Paris.

This hotel is styled with decor from the time of Marcel Proust including original paintings and a book he dedicated to a friend’s mother. Amazing bar and library, beautiful richly decorated rooms and an underground Moroccan inspired pool and sauna. Service was wonderful and I was upgraded to a suite. I can’t wait to stay her again!!
