Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIron winding stairs to reach the room.
Big studio type room with attached bathroom, balcony and kitchenette and garden view. Was a quiet area. 20 minutes walk to Monet house and garden but 5 minutes by car. Owner has a setter dog called Maggie, white with macchiato light brown spots. Lovely dog.

The owner let us check in early so that we could leave our luggage and go to visit Monet's house. He also drove us to the station early in the morning to get our train. Very kind.

New ZealandI did not expect the access to be via a spiral staircase. The host very kindly carried my suitcase up and down for me, but I do think its something that needs notification, because with older people travelling, a steep spiral external staircase that is slippery in the rain may not be to everyone's liking.
The breakfast was very good. The studio unit was very spacious, but did not look like any of the pictures that I had seen online.

United KingdomWe couldn't get the hob to work (so cooked with the friendly Ukrainians instead) and there was a temporary issue with flies accumulating at the top of the studio glass. There is so much antique furniture that the studio inevitably smells a bit like an old antique shop - maybe a scent diffuser would be too modern? We were a bit confused because the en suite studio we had wasn't the tiny cottage shown on booking.com but we enjoyed our balcony, views over the garden and starlight through the studio glass.
Les Buissonnets feels like le vrai old France, even though all the bustle of Monet's famous house and garden is only one kilometre up the road. The studio where we stayed could have housed impressionist contemporaries - there is an atmosphere about the place that belongs to a gentler age, particularly the large somewhat neglected garden and the charming and generous proprietor. We enjoyed meeting his Ukrainian guests (thank heavens for Google Translate!). There are wonderful walks from the house over the flower-rich downland (sadly ungrazed and scrubbing up - a shame Monet's views and the biodiversity are not being maintained) and, of course, around the lovely well-preserved old village, which has some very good places to eat. The local area has other interesting and attractive sights around the Seine. Although we only stayed two nights Les Buissonnets has a small piece of our hearts.

GermanyThe place is incredibly original (if I was a creative, I would certainly go in Exil to create here). The location is perfect to explore Giverny. The owner is incredibly kind and accommodating and things are just very well thought-through: there is an umbrella next to the door, some food if you would like to feed the fishes in the big aquarium. Nothing to complain about really and it is a real gem for staying over.

AustraliaWe didn’t care but some people might find the stairs to the back room which we stayed in a challenge.
Very quaint and quirky, we felt like we were staying in an artist’s garret with a beautiful garden outlook from our room. The decor was shabby chic, the kitchen basic but adequate, the breakfast simple but sufficient. The host and his Ukrainian staff member were very kind and helpful.

DenmarkTowels were clean, but smelled sour like they hadn't dried up properly after being washed. Backyard was a bit messy and the private parking wasn't in the yard but on the small road.

SwedenThe noice of the highway sometimes reaches the village/you hear it when it’s quiet; if you sleep with the window open, ask for a room towards the garden.
The host was very helpful and friendly, cheerful and knowledgeable about the surroundings. It had everything we needed, was clean, and close to the Monet House. The B&B and it’s garden was beautiful!
