Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhile we were there the elevator was out several times. We had to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs to our room. It was almost comical, that they would leave us two bottles of water but no bottle opener. every night I would have to call down for a bottle opener.
Beautiful decor. Warm and inviting entrance. Location was just perfect! Bathroom towels were absorbent and fluffy. Perfect for bathing. Water pressure was good. For the complementary two bottles of water, and coffee every morning in our room. Room size was great for two people .

United KingdomThe loo was a little high. I am above average height but had to sit with my feet dangling. A little step might be helpful for some.
The hotel is in a fantastic location on beautiful Place Bellecoeur. It was very comfortable and the staff were welcoming. It was very easy to use public transport to reach sites of interest and there are bars and restaurants nearby.

United KingdomWe didn't like the original room as it was dark and faced a wall. We were very happy to pay another 25 euros and move to a much larger room with floor to ceiling windows that opened onto a view of the town.
We chose this place for the valet service and so glad we did as you simply pull up outside and they take your car away. Was important for us with a one night stop driving through a big city we didn't know. It was good to be able to walk everywhere and it between the two rivers. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Lovely property, amazing staff especially the concierge and perfect location. The rooms could use a refresh, not necessarily updating but just an overall freshening. There is nothing wrong with them, it was a comfortable room with the amenities you would expect. Also everything we asked for/room service was up in a blink of an eye. Never had service at a hotel that fast.

I recently stayed at Hôtel Le Royal Lyon - MGallery and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel’s prime location overlooking Place Bellecour is perfect for exploring Lyon, with the Old Town just a 10-minute walk away. The luxurious ambiance of the hotel, combined with its historical charm, creates an elegant atmosphere that is both welcoming and sophisticated. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that all my needs were met. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, featuring a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a flat-screen HD TV. The bathroom was equally impressive, with high-quality toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers provided. One of the highlights of my stay was the stunning city view from my room, which made for a picturesque start to each day. The free WiFi was reliable and fast, which was essential for my work requirements. Additionally, the hotel offers a delightful lounge bar that is perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. Overall, Hôtel Le Royal Lyon - MGallery offers an exceptional blend of comfort, luxury, and excellent service. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lyon, whether for business or leisure. I look forward to returning on my next trip to this beautiful city.

Not every hotel in Europe is worth 5 star rating, but Hotel Le Royal definitely is! We booked junior suite and it exceeded our expectations. The view was over Bellacour square and we could see Lyon Norte Dame from far far away. Breakfast, as all other reviews mention, is exceptional! Breakfast service is fantastic, minute you walk in, girls come up to offer drinks, etc. We’ve been traveling for several days in France before we came to Lyon and this is the only hotel where we thoroughly enjoyed the room, bed sheets, mattress, environment of the hotel and the location. Also, we did not have any dinner reservations for the night we got there and the reception girl booked us Michelin star restaurant, which did not disappoint. The experience of dinner was superb! United StatesI liked just about everything, but I suppose some might comment that a few surfaces were showing signs of wear and tear.
The best thing about the hotel is the staff: everyone was super helpful, as attentive as one might expect in a five star luxury hotel. The design is also excellent, with rich materials and elegant colors that create a lovely atmosphere. The location could not be better.
