LuxembourgIn terms of guest reception and physical maintenance of the hotel, I have the impression that it is relying heavily on its 5-star status, rather than earning it. The wedding hosts asked the hotel to accomodate early check-in of the guests since the ceremony was scheduled to begin at 16h. We arrived at 14:45 and were informed that our room would not be ready until 15:45-16h. We needed to freshen up and change clothes for the wedding, so we asked if it were possible to use the (not cleaned room) to change clothes. We were directed to use the public restroom below the lobby, even after I protested. I also asked about using the changing rooms at the spa and was told that they were not convenient, as they required us to walk down through the garden. In the end, we undressed, washed and changed in a public bathroom, as people came in and out, as if we were Eurorail travelers in a train station. A staff member came down after 15mins to offer us the use of the uncleaned room, as I previously requested, but since I was already shoeless and shirtless, I declined. I didn't see the bedroom until after midnight. This is not the guest service I expect from a 5 star hotel.
The hotel is located in a superb garden on the shore of the lake. The rooms have picture perfect views of lake and mountains and the spa/pool/lakeside facilities are excellent. The breakfast room has a beautiful view. It was a real pleasure to eat there. We came for a wedding held in the garden, next to the lake. The hotel staff were competent, helpful and friendly thoughout the ceremony and the evening dinner. The quality of the cocktail service and dinner catering was excellent.
