Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was expecting a larger room within the house, although our room was comfortable it didn’t reflect the period of the main house!
Nice setting but bad weather hindered our visit,

United StatesWe loved everything overall. Parking and getting in and out of the parking area could be a bit tricky.
Beautiful hotel with great, friendly staff. Our room was beautiful and very large. Conveniently located to restaurants in town and the chateaus in the Loire Valley.

United KingdomThe room had a shower over the bath rather than a separate shower. The breakfast was expensive for what it was. Cooked eggs were a surcharge on top.
The location was ideal for visiting the chateau and restaurants. The bed was really comfortable. the staff accommodated an early arrival so that we could go on a wine tatsing tour in the afternoon.

CanadaIf anything, perhaps more food options at night. Very minor issue.
We arrived early to store our luggage and were very pleased to be told our room was ready. Staff had an answer for any questions we had and were so accommodating. We enjoyed the pool in the day and playing chess in the bar at night. Also, we had dinner on the property that was available a few times a week and it was delicious! The location is walking distance to pretty much anything. Beautiful property and service.

United StatesThe only issue was the shower was in the tub, which is usually okay, but this shower head was very low and couldn’t be raised any further as the ceiling was low as well. My husband is 6’1” and it was difficult to have a shower for him.
This property is very well located near all of the main shopping and restaurants. The staff were exceptional and very accommodating. We initially had a room on the first floor facing the street/parking which was also near one of the entry doorways to the property so it was a loud room with no privacy as you cannot open your curtains or windows without everyone on the street being able to see directly (eye-level) into your room. We asked to change rooms and this was accommodated without issue. The 2nd room was on the 1st floor and faced the gardens and was simply lovely. We asked for dinner recommendations and they made a reservation at their sister hotel for dinner one night which was in a cozy garden setting with exceptional food (Le Clos d’Ambois). We didn’t have the breakfast. Parking on-site was a huge bonus.

FranceIt lacked the ”wow” moment, especially the room itself - it was good but not great in the little details of the interior and some amenities
- Location - The interiors atmosphere which is both ancient but adapted to the modern comfort - Gobelins on the walls - Lovely tiny pool - Very good breakfast

United StatesWindows lacked curtains. Too dark with shutters closed - no privacy with shutters open. Door handle came off in our room. An advance notice via email offering to arrange a cab transfer from train station would have been nice, as there were no taxis there upon our arrival.
Lovely grounds. Splendid, spacious room complete with ceiling art in the bedroom! Quiet location just a few block from the town center.

United KingdomI cannot think of anything. We will go back.
Lovely property which was very comfortable and clean. The towels and robes were very fluffy. The swimming pool was brilliant with a mixture of sun and shade. The fridge was a useful asset. It was just a 2 minute walk to the centre and chateaus and wine tasting just 20 mins by car.

United StatesOur stay at Le Manoir Saint Thomas was lovely. The hotel is wonderfully decorated, clean, and unique. We enjoyed the easy walk to the chateau and restaurants in Amboise. When we arrived, the staff held our bags before check-in which was much appreciated. To top it all off, the staff was incredibly kind and courteous.

United KingdomNothing!!
The hotel is a very old and has retained so much of the original features and the furniture matches the period. Our room was truly beautiful with an old wooden ceiling and stained glass windows. It also caught the early evening sun which was lovely. The staff were very helpful and told us our dig could come down to breakfast which was nice. There is a small garden and pool as well.

CanadaNothing. It was all great.
Beautifully well kept chateaux. Rooms had feeling of the history of the building with modern updates and a lovely new bathroom. Location easy to walk anywhere in Amboise and approx 20 min walk from train station. Staff were kind and helpful. Unfortunately pool was not open when we were there but looks like it would be wonderful as well.

United StatesThe room was fairly spacious, atmospheric, quiet, and comfortable. Bathroom was luxurious with a very large soaking tub. We asked for a quiet room and it was provided. We felt it was a little bit warm in our room for sleeping as it was on the upper floor, so they happily turn the air conditioning on for us. It was central air rather than one of those box units of blow on you, so it was a much more consistent and comfortable temperature for a good sleep. Our room was also nice and quiet. I actually quite loved this hotel and wished we had been staying another night (we stay two nights). We travel quite a bit, and I felt this hotel exceeded expectations, and it went out of their way to provide comfort to their guests. The location was also great. They had plenty of umbrellas for used as we had rainy weather during our stay. The one day we did have nice weather they opened the pool up just for my husband to use as he enjoys a swim. Thank you!!
