Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe bed didn't have very good back support and the parking was limited but for us it was a great price and perfect for our needs.
The room was big enough for our family with younger children. There was a private bathroom and Valerie, whom I only conversed with via messaging was very kind and helpful. It was just a quick one night stay and for that it was perfect. We stayed in the family room with 3 younger children and a toddler.

United KingdomThe room is a bit dated and definitely needs a bit of a makeover - but it didn't affect our stay at all. The bed cover on the double had a stain on but the sheets underneath were pristine so again, can't really complain. Bathroom was quite small but clean. Bit of a funny smell in the communal hallway but didn't affect our stay. Our room was facing the main road so a bit noisy but not unbearable.
The room was very clean and spacious. The owner (the lady) was very friendly and welcoming. The location is great as well, only a few minutes walk or drive to the beach and right near a Carrefour city shop & bakery. The kids beds were very clean and comfy. Double bed was comfy as well. It was good for what we needed - a bed for the night. Breakfast was nice, freshly baked pastries, bread, juice and coffee, the pain au chocolate were a hit with our kids.

GermanyShared bathroom - the equipment was OK, but difficult to find free room especially in the morning.
The room for this price was OK, including fridge and microwave. No A/C. It was difficult for me with the shared bathroom and WC - I had to try every morning several time to get access to it (and the hotel was not full). Breakfast was simple but OK for the price. Location is great, you can reach Bleriot beach in 5 min. Parking is on the street for free, but you need to find a place. In 25 min you can reach by walking Calais centrum with restaurants.

BelgiumThe sink in my room was clogged but the owner explained it was due to the full booking of the hotel for a long while that maintenance hadn't been able to be kept up to usual standard

DenmarkTerrible experience. We checked in late so there was no one there. We got a massage with the code for the main entrance. Room we got was on the 3rd floor. Very narrow steps and no light in the corridor. Room was really small due to the fact that it was a loft. There was no toilet/bath in the room. Yes there was a hand-wash in the middle of the room. Which was then lacking in the shared toilet in the corridor. (do your dirty business in the toilet and go all the way back to the room to wash your hands, nasty) No towels, no drinking water, no soap. There was an old bed with a spring mattress, you could feel everyone of the springs. Out dated wallpaper and carpet. Both of which were really dirty. No keys for the room. One can lock the room from inside but when you leave your room there was no lock.
It was late and we didn't had any other options, otherwise I would never stayed her. It was unsafe and really nasty. And taking price in consideration so I believe we could have found something better.

United KingdomNo pillow for the bed, but a simple cushion The second stairs were without light with a low ceiling in a corner, hence I had all opportunities to hurt myself The sink in the bedroom was difficultly accessible in a very cramped area with the TV right behind and a piece of furniture on the left, with shelves very close on the wall giving all opportunities to hurt yourself against a corner (which I did) The toilet paper is not in the toilet, but you have to take your roll from your bedroom, rather bizarre. No bedside table with a little lamp
The staff was very friendly

UkraineThe hotel does not match the description on the website. Who are these people writing positive reviews? Don't believe! The hotel is old and very dirty. Smoking in the rooms, all the furniture stinks. The administrator left as soon as we were settled, we could not contact her to express claims. I think the conditions for the impossibility of canceling the reservation are set on purpose
I can not say something good, because I left the room after an hour of being there

United KingdomThe room absolutely stunk with very old faded beddings and moulds in the shower, cobwebs round the room etc. That's not a hotel it's more of a bnb/ hostel for backpackers. The management definitely needs to improve and refurb the place. It's in a great location but hotel had been let run down. Not worth £150 a night.
Location was great, walking distance to the beach and free parking was a bonus.

United KingdomUncomfortable beds - still spring mattresses - the room and bathroom was so old that we thought we might felt down during the night and every time you flashed the toilet the noise was unbelievable. we weren’t given a key to lock the room cause we arrived during early hours so had to use a chair and luggage to close it down. then we tried to have breakfast but because we did t book it, we didn’t get anything. it was ok to stay for a night cause we were desperate but we paid almost £300 for a room which was way below touristic standards. It was like having to pay to stay in someone’s grandmas very old flat.

IrelandWe were thirsty after our journey and spent around €13 in the bar on 3 apple juice and 1 small beer from the tap which made my husband gag. €166 for a room is not cheap. There was quite a pervasive odour in the hotel and corridor. It smelt of decades of old smoke masked with artificial air freshener which I can still smell in my hair.
We got a nice welcome from the host. Lovely fresh air at the beach - we gulped in the sea air after seeing the room. There’s a really nice restaurant nearby in the town which you can get wine at to dull your senses to endure your stay.
