Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLack of drawers/shelves for clothing, bags, suitcases etc. Light switches were confusing - bedside light switches also controlled the en-suite bathroom light!
Spotlessly clean throughout. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable well-appointed room. Modern decor.

United StatesOur room was small. I know this is to be expected in Paris, but still, one can hope. Our room was decorated with dark tones and very small lights, so it was darker overall than we like. Also, we had to ask for directions on how to use the light switches. (They require a quick tap in either the off or on position, and then a two or three second wait for them to turn off or on. Instructions on using the switches would have helped us foreigners.) Other than these two small issues, we like this hotel a lot.
Loved this hotel. It is really well appointed, has a great bar and restaurant (of sorts), a very pleasant outdoor patio area, and is on a nice quiet street. Cafés and small shops are located just around the corner. Customer service was excellent. I was told as I was checking out that the hotel had just been upgraded to a four-star rating, something it had been working on for some time. The upgrade is well deserved.

United StatesWe couldn't have been more thrilled with our stay! The staff welcomed us so warmly, and were extremely attentive and kind. We arrived a couple hours before check-in time and the staff were happy to hold our bags while we dined in the absolutely gorgeous garden until our room was ready. The pool and sauna were so peaceful, and we loved the neighborhood. Can't recommend this hotel enough for a luxurious and peaceful time!

United KingdomThe minibar was extremely overpriced. Like exponential prices. Also we were given a room near the lift so we heard the door “ding” every morning.

CroatiaI had a flood in my room and had to be moved in the midst of night. Staff handled it beautifully and professionally. Apart from that - my stay there was perfect.
Hôtel Le Ballu is a beautifully decorated little hotel perfect for a cozy stay in Pariz. Close to Metro on Montmartre, but secluded from all the noise of surrounding bars. Staff is amazingly welcoming and very helpful. Their restaurant is a must try! Reserve it first and then enjoy French couisine taken to a top level. Price per value in all aspects. Would love to have stayed longer.

Very nice boutique hotel, extremely nice and friendly staff (everyone from the front desk to the waiters, really great staff). Very nice decor, very good cleanliness, my room (superior) with above average square footage of rooms in Paris hotels. Probably the best boutique hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in many and others in Paris as well.

United StatesThe light switches were a really puzzle; it was impossible to figure out how they work. I hope the hotel management provides written instructions how the switches work.
The hotel is wonderful. It feels as luxurious as a 5-star property. The room was super-clean. A kitchenette with a Nespresso machine was a welcome touch. The location is great for those who want to explore the Montmartre area.

United KingdomI’ve not got one negative word to say. Just a minor caution, don’t let the Billecart Brut attract the Bling crowd!
Sincerely one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in Paris. A beautifully designed hotel; elegant, practical, simple and stylish. Extremely well appointed, it has everything the discerning traveller could wish for, without being a gram over the top. Discretion. Oxfords, not Brogues. Book-ending the day with a sauna and a swim in the sublime private spa was magnificent! I seldom write reviews, but when I write glowing ones, it’s for the staff, who in the case of Ballu, I found to be capable, courteous, considerate, generous in their hospitality and welcome and as elegant as their environment! Chapeau!

United StatesHotel Le Ballu is a true gem in the 9th. My wife and I are so glad we chose to stay here. Its fairly central and walkable to everything, yet tucked slightly away to keep you in a quiet & safe location. As for their staff: From reception to kitchen, their staff is amazing ,and go above and beyond to make your experience a positive one. Their food (delicious) and cocktail bar top notch. Our room was truly a perfect balance of size and function, that had a very welcoming vibe. Comfortable beds and pillows, great light facing the street with electronic shutters to control light, and privacy. Their bathroom was good size and well designed. Room temp controls were good, and the mini bar with sink, dishware, and expresso machine were a welcomed amenity. Outside of Hotel Le Ballu area neighborhoods, we always felt safe walking at any hour of the day or night. A half block walk puts local bistros, coffee shops, bars, pubs, boulangerie bakeries at your fingertips, including a great wine shop. About two blocks out and you're at easy access to all city transportation and the busier side of the 9th. You won't regret making this your place of stay in Paris.
