Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWiFi not working. Poor and minimal selection in the bar. No lift and not mentioned anywhere on the website. Needs a bit of TLC; rooms looked a little tired. Needs to have more pots of milk for 2 people occupancy in the room.
Opposite a supermarket. Free parking. Sun terrace. Receptionist was very pleasant. Rooms clean. Drink making facility in the room. Bath/shower option. Hardly heard any noise. Room at the back was quiet. Good late night security with a fob.

United KingdomOld and tired room Dirty carpets - stained and needed a very good vacuum No plug sockets by bedside (in our room anyway) Wardrobe placed on floor so unable to open door as it scraped on carpet. Bathroom needed modernisation- broken shower holder, loose panels on bath and under sink. Grout between bathroom tiles black. Cobwebs everywhere (including dining room) Unpleasant odour in room not sure if from carpet but aware pets are allowed. Thought maybe just our room but friends rooms the same. If they hadn't taken payment prior to arrival and the fact we required 5 rooms we would not have stayed
Location Parking Breakfast Restaurant (but be warned: menu fixed and when they run out that was it no other alternative available only what was on board)

RomaniaAccess to a fridge would have been great. The room was really dark. The light switches were pretty much over the place, but the lights were quite dim. Also, power outlets were only in one place. At least, that's what I had in my room. Oh...almost forgot about the internet. It was just horrible. It required to be registered on their network and I had to reenter the credential every single time I used the phone again. This meant reentering ID and password 20 times in the same evening. This was the greatest nuissance out of all.
It was the cheapest I could find in the area. Also, there is a supermarket right next to it. Sheets were changed daily. It was easily accessible from public transport.

FranceI chose the hotel because it was on my route, AND, it had an on-site restaurant. The restaurant was CLOSED. The reception suggested a nearby restaurant: a 10 minute walk there. It was also CLOSED. .......

United KingdomThe woman who checked me out was rude. I needed to leave just before 8am to catch the journey to the airport. She wouldn't assist me until past 8 and then when she did it was with attitude, telling me I had already paid so why didn't I just leave the card and go, leave the card where? There was no box or instructions to say that. The aircon worked but was noisy and circulated damp, caused us to get bad coughs from the moisture. The bathroom having a perimeter sensor light instead of a normal switch was just weird. The whole place needs a revamp as the carpets are very dirty and dated. The bed wasn't that comfortable at all. The hotel is a good 45 minute walk from the centre of Annecy. There is a bus (The number 2) that departs fairly regularly but is still a 15 min walk away from the hotel.
The guy who checked us in was very friendly, he was able to help me with a UK travel adapter when I realised I had brought the wrong one. The room was large, there is a supermarket a stones throw away which was very useful.

NetherlandsThe hotel is very old and it needs a renovation no later than today. The rooms smell humidity and there are dead spiders everywhere. We have stayed at around ten hotels over the last fifteen days and this one was the worst of all.
