Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy wife had a hole ripped in her top by the reception frontage. But the receptionist on checking out kindly took some money off the bill for our stay.
Lovely view over the park. Well appointed big bathroom with bath tub and walk in shower. The Jeu de Paume restaurant was a gastronomic delight. Friendly staff too.

PortugalWe should generally be trying to save energy, and minimise the use of air conditioning. I don’t understand why so many hotels have started to use very heavy duvets all year round. We visited Pau in mid-August and I had to remove the duvet and use a towel as a blanket, in order to avoid using the AC, which I hate, and keep the window open. Please consider returning to old-fashioned bedding with sheets and a light blanket in summer. Duvets are for cold weather!!!!!
Location is great, at the edge of the park and the old city. Our view over the park was very pleasant too. Breakfast was very good. There is parking, with an option for underground parking, and dogs are welcome.

IrelandArrived at 1510 hrs, check in is 1500hrs. We were given room 215, as we opened the door, we saw dirty dishes, unmade bed, towels on bathroom floor. Returned to reception, they apologised and gave us room 212. I thought maybe a room upgrade or a complimentary drink at the bar would have been a nice gesture for their mistake. However, we weren't offered anything. Room 212 was clean and well presented with a balcony over looking the park. The superkingsize bed was so comfortable. Lovely toiletries, fluffy towels, robes and slippers. Complimentary sparkling and still water in the mini bar. Nespresso coffee machine in the room and a good selection of teas. We enjoyed the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Had a couple of drinks at the bar, €32 for 1 gin & tonic and 1 bacardi and coke. Bar service was swift, friendly and professional. We didn't eat at the hotel. We walked through the park to the town, very handy. Check out time is 1200 hrs which is great. I feel that reception staff weren't very friendly, I think there may have been staff training going on.

United KingdomSome parts of the breakfast weren’t that tasty (the croissants weren’t the best) but we were allowed to order a lot of food items at a flat fee which made up for it
Informed the hotel that it was our honeymoon & they kindly upgraded us. The balcony was a real stand out feature and the staff noticed we were looking a bit peaky upon checkout (!) & gave us bottles of water which was really kind.

The Hotel is conveniently located, a short walk through Parc Beamont to the promenade des Pyrennes or to the centre de ville. The room was everything you could wish for in a hotel of this standing and was very comfortable. Access to the Spa was a small additional cost but well worth it. We didn't have breakfast but we dined in the cafe and were impressed with the service and quality of the food.

SwitzerlandThe meal in the Brasserie on our first evening was a disappointment. We'd travelled all day so ate early at 18h30 and were the only table in the restaurant. My main meal was luke warm, our cutlery wasn't replaced after starters, and the waiter was so unwelcoming and condescending (the tall / thin guy - not his colleague with the specs and ponytail) that we didn't eat there again, and it's the first time in 40 years that we didn't leave a tip for service.
We were upgraded to a Junior Suite on arrival which had a huge balcony and a great room! Breakfast was good, if expensive, and the hotel location is central and on the edge of a beautiful park.
