Air conditioning was off and we had to wait a while as people checked in to try and sort it out, and then were given a fan. Not ideal as it kept us awake a lot in the two nights we were there. Booked in the knowledge we’d have air conditioning.

I would have liked coffee making facilities in the room. Parking was tricky in the on site car park but was helped by the kind receptionist to see me out of my spot and onto the road.

Hotel very centrally located, on the promenade by the beach. Lively pedestrianised area around the hotel. Useful to have air conditioning in August. Very comfortable beds.

We would have appreciated more storage space for clothes. The biggest problem was that the toilet, which was separate from the excellent bathroom, didn’t have either a fan or an outside window. Given that there’s an outside wall as part of the toilet, this can easily be remedied.

In our room, there was an ironing board but no iron. We had to call room service and collect the iron from reception. There are no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Paper cups and water are provided in the room. You have to go to the dining area to collect your hot drink. However, none of this was a deal breaker for us as we were only staying 1 night and the hotel represented good value for money

We stayed in the basic room with twin beds. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, excellent shower. The room had air con. The hotel is in an excellent location , on the main square facing the beach, with numerous restaurants and bars. You can have a continental breakfast at the hotel which has a wide selection to choose from, so good value for money. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. There is parking for 10 cars in the forecourt if there is no space available you would have to park in public car park which is very close and cost €30 per day.

When I was booking a room, I took into account the fact that the hotel provides room service. We clarified this fact at the check-in and it was confirmed to us. However, when in the morning we asked for this service in the form of a morning French breakfast on our balcony with the sea view, we were refused. On this occasion, we were told that they did not have this service. Disappointed that the service advertised on booking.com is not provided and this is already a deception. When we were paying we were charged an additional amount of more than 37 euros as tax. However, when we checked our bill from booking.com, we found that the amount was much less and included in the payment. The next day we were informed that we had been charged for breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which we had not requested. The amount was refunded.

We arrived in Arcachon on a sunny day so that my daughter could prepare for a course exam at the University of Bordeaux. The choice of hotel was because it is on the coast and has a great view from the room. The small balcony allows you to admire both the beautiful sunset and the seafront. But you should note that this view is only available for the upper floors. On the ground floor, there is a large terrace, but the sea view is impossible because of the roof of the neighboring building. Another thing to consider is the possible presence of drunk and shouting people on the coast at night, because of which we had to close the balcony door. Pleasantly surprised that this hotel has existed since 1860 and this gives it a special charm. The room was very comfortable, clean, typically French with minimal space.
