Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bed was a little uncomfortable in. There are two flights of stairs if you have a lot of luggage.
Great value and a great location. We literally walked to restaurants and shops in Minutes. The castle was right around the corner. We walked to Château Luce. Public parking was close by and free. Apartment was well equipped.

United StatesClean, comfortable, private, simple but well equipped apartment. I would live in this gite, if I could stay in France. The location is in a popular area near the base of the chateau and with several great places to eat within a 5 minute walk. The welcoming owner communicated with us (French and English) and opened the door for us upon arrival. She and her husband clearly take good care of this apartment. Free “parking des quais” is available below the bridge. It was a short walk to parking and to the Sunday market. Highly recommend.

Denmark-
First and foremost, Amboise is one of the most charming towns in the Loire Valley, and the Sunday market is a must-see. The apartment is newly renovated, featuring a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom, and well-equipped facilities for heating food and a laundry maschine . The location is unbeatable in Amboise, and considering the price, this studio is an excellent choice.

Germany- We were there at the weekend and everything went perfectly, but on the night from Sunday to Monday there was a lot of traffic in the street, it got quite loud and bright because of the headlights. I would recommend blinds for the windows. - On this trip, we learned that in France we are asked to collect the bed linen at the end of our stay and put it somewhere (we didn´t know this from other country). But asking us to vacuum the apartment was a bit much. We did it, but we weren't happy with the situation. But all in all, the stay was satisfactory and we would stay there again
The apartment is good and well equipped. It was very easy to get in, we received all the instructions in advance and they were very precise. In a short walk we were actually at the most important sights of the city und we did everything on foot. The hostess was super nice and helpfull.

New ZealandNothing, although 2nd floor up with stairs is a bit of effort for older people with cases. However, put the effort in & enjoy!
Location was brilliant, right around the corner (2minute) walk to the bulk of the bars/restaurants, Royal Chateau de Amboise. Free parking was 7 minute walk away.

United StatesThere are a couple of minor things you should be aware of. The window in the bedroom opens to the street. The apartment is on the second floor. The town really quiets down after about 10 pm but in the early evening and in the morning, there are people walking on the street and car traffic so it's harder to sleep in if that is what you like to do. The bedroom curtains offer little to no privacy or light blocking. We simply closed the shutters. We were there in October and it was cool in the evening so this wasn't a problem. However, if it was hot and you wanted to leave the windows open for air, lack of privacy might have been a concern. There wasn't a place in the shower to put your items (shampoo, soap, etc) so you have to put them on the floor of the shower and bed over to pick them up. Again, not a big deal unless you have a back issue. It wasn't a problem for us but I wanted to point it out.
Gîte NiLou was exactly as advertised. It is an incredible value. It was in a great location right in the center of Amboise. Our host, Audrey was very easy to work with using Whatsapp and Booking.com's message app. She even recommended some restaurants which were incredible. The place was clean and everything worked. We needed to do some laundry and the washing machine worked great. We parked in the free parking right down the street (350m). We had no issue with parking since we always returned in the evening when the rush had diminished. We needed towels and sheets which Audrey provided for €10 for each bed. One of us slept in the pull out couch which was comfortable for one adult or a couple of children. We had our own bath soap, toiletries, and toilet paper which you will need (you should always travel with these items in Europe anyway). All you needed to do was walk out the door and there were markets very close by. We like to take our lunch in the apartment with eggs, fresh cheese, fresh bread, butter and jam. There was plenty of room in the refrigerator for everything. We didn't use the TV. The Wifi was perfectly fine. The dishwasher worked great. We drank the water from the sink and it was fine. We liked the big, drip style coffee machine. We simply bought coffee from the market right around the corner and had a big pot of coffee every morning. The coffee machine had its own filter. Like all of the properties located in medieval towns, don't expect an elevator to get up to the second floor. We knew all of these things from the booking.com information. We easily coordinated our departure with Audrey who was very accommodating by allowing us a late check out. I would definitely recommend staying here.

AustraliaI did not know I would be charged $10 for linen. I was asked if I had my own linen or wanted to pay for it. I paid for it of course. I just feel this information should be in the booking.com info. Reminded me of being in a hostel.

United StatesOne flight up a windy, cement staircase, not bad but be aware, if limited mobility. I missed the fine print that sheets and one towel per person cost an extra €10, payable in cash.
Fantastic location, walkable to shops, cafes and Clos Lucé. Host Audrey is great and easy to connect with. Easy to get in. Apartment is a bit older, but spacious for two. Bed is super comfy. Very affordable for charming Amboise.
