Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only thing that was tricky was parking, which had nothing to do with the hotel. Google maps won't show you how to get there, so we drove around for a bit trying to find a road that would allow cars and not just pedestrians. Finally we figured out that there is a way, but seemingly only in going past the chateau where there are road blockers that go down to let you through. We ended up parking in the nearest parking garage, and though we had to pay a bit for the day, the hotel gave us a night ticket so that was free.
Cozy room with a very friendly hostess and a beautiful location that is only a few minutes walk from the most famous sites in Annecy.

United StatesThis property was great and comfortable with no frills. The staff were friendly and the location was perfect, sitting at the top of the hill above the busy old town streets. It only takes a minute to get into the heart of the town by foot. The views from here are stunning, as is Annecy itself. We enjoyed our time here and would stay here again!

United KingdomThe room was slightly small and the steps leading up to the room are quite steep - on your way down the stairs, there is a big drop which can be a trip hazard if you aren't paying attention! While we could get a parking space, there are only around 5 spaces in front of the hotel - so it's down to luck as to whether you will get one. The property was also a bit complicated/ difficult to find by car.
The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. The location is excellent, as you can walk down the hill and be close to shops and restaurants in Annecy. The bed was comfortable. Lots of boulangeries around for breakfast.

United KingdomWe were in Room 15, which had perfect views out onto Annecy, the mountains, the Chateau, and the terrace. It had everything that we needed, and was clean and comfortable. Maybe the furniture could do with an update, but it didn’t detract from our stay.

FranceIt was very hot in the room but there was no air conditioning. Although, there is a ventilator which is almost as good as air conditioning.
The hotel is very cosy, and the staff is very nice.

AustraliaMy room faced the castle so had a great view though this also meant people constantly walking past your window and hearing the language of nations up to 7 or so at night. Not a complaint at all, just a heads up
I had a single room.. it was tiny. Had all I needed though and everything functioned as it should and didn't want for anything. Clean and tidy amenities. Simple breakfast was adequate, nice to enjoy it outside on the balcony with a view. Away from the main area with a 5 min walk uphill. Not difficult at all

GermanySmall, little Hotel in Annency City Centre, beside the Castle. The Old town is starting 1 minute away. Our room was big enough for 2 people. The beds are, typical French, not too big, but It was OK for us. The rooms do not have AC, but you can open the window at night. It was very quiet at night, even through its in the centre. You can have breakfast outside at the terrace with view over the town and the mountains. The bufee breakfast include croissants, bread, coffee, bio marmalade and more. We just missed some prepared fruits for our muesli. But it only cost 11 Euro, so that's very a fair price. There is a parking area at the hotel for max 5 cars. But there are a lot of parking areas just around which are free from 19 to 8 over night. Just ask at the reception. We would highly recommend this hotel for a short trip to Annecy!

CanadaWould have been nice to have a little flexibility for a later check-out, even with a fee.
The location is fantastic (note that it is in a mainly pedestrian area and on top of a hill so expect a little sweat on the walk up with luggage) but then you are steps away from the castle, all the action (restaurants, shops, cafes of the old town) a few minutes from the lake and about 10-15 min walk to the bus station. The bed, pillow & linen were super comfortable. The room was decent size for Europe. Everything clean. The fan was a nice addition given the heat wave (no AC). Staff was nice & helpful. Was able to leave my luggage free of charge.

United KingdomJust be warned it is a steep climb to walk up to get to the hotel!
Wonderful location and the view was special. Helpful and friendly staff. I booked the room with an external bathroom, which is better suited to a solo traveller. That said, I would definitely stay there again.
