Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalNo cold water, only hot (really hot) water. Had to use cups to cool water for washing. No wifi, I was provided with password but couldn't locate or connect to a network. Noisy folding door at the toilet (without lock), you can't go there in the night without waking up others. Other things like mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, or its small size etc. are fine for me, no big deal for that price.
Price. Location. Also it was quiet enough even though I knew there won't be any soundproofing.

United KingdomNothing really.
Very good service.the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is very good for discovering Paris. You don't need to take any transport. Everything is quite close to the hotel. (Many station lines gare du nord, gare de lest , underground station s and bus are all few minutes from the hotel also).

United KingdomAlthough we were ok with how simple and dated hotel is, few things could be improved. We had a family room, and it was 5 of us (1 adult 4 children), but we only had 2 towels in the room. First night, we shared these two towels. The next day after the room was cleaned, we were left with only one towel. I have asked at the reception if we can get an extra towel they said they will sort it out but still we didn't get one until the next day's cleaning where they left just two towels again. The wardrobe in the room did not open, it looks like there was an extra bedding inside, or bedding for the cot but the door looked broken, so we didn't risk opening it just in case the door would come off. Also, there were a lot of reviews about the horrible sewage smell from the toilet. It was ok actually, however, on the day of our arrival, there was a very strong smell of bleach in the room and toilet. We had to keep all windows open to get rid of smell(luckily room was warm).
Great location, 5 minutes walk from Gare du nord train station, 20 minutes walk to Montmartre, short walk to bus stops and metro. A lot of shops and cafes are nearby. The hotel is very simple, you basically get what you pay for so don't expect too much from your stay. We were a bit worried after reading all bad reviews and were prepared for the worst, but it exceeded our expectations. Although the hotel is quite dated, it is actually not bad at all. We stayed in a family room, a spacious room with 2 double beds and a travel cot for the baby, comfortable beds, good WiFi connection, and room was cleaned daily. Staff is very polite. Nice simple place to stay with the perfect location. We definitely would stay again.

United StatesThere was a terrible smell in the bathroom, coming up, I think, from the pipes. And the walls are thin, so you get/have to hear your neighbors making love, fighting, arguing with their children, and slamming their doors. There was also a soft spot in the floor outside the bathroom that I kept waiting to fall through. But hey, it's Paris!
Clean, simple room in a safe neighborhood within about a ten minute walk to nightmare. Montmartre. Friendly staff. It was convenient to Metro stations and plenty of nice shops, bakeries, cafes, etc. People will complain that the room is small and old and creaky, but y'know what? If you want to stay at the Ritz, sirens ten or twenty times more a day and stay at the Ritz. This is a great budget hotel for budget-minded travelers. There's a bed, a bathroom, a little closet,v excellent Wi-Fi, and a TV in the room. If you need more fancy accommodations, go pay for them; the Brabant suited our needs, and was Mike's above the last "budget" hotel w stayed at in Paris, which has no elevator and a shared toilet and shower halfway up the stairs. You could do better, but you could also certainly do worse. My husband and I would definitely stay at the Brabant again!

BelgiumThe shower had hot water, great, but it was only too hot water. You couldn't stand in it. The room was very small, so not much comfort.
The cushons were very nice. The fabrics were soft and everything smelled good. The place was close to the north station, which was great for getting up hungover in the morning and taking the train back.

United KingdomSmell in the bathroom, especially the shower cubicle from the drains was unpleasant. I was with 3 friends who all had the same issue in their rooms. Bathrooms are all pretty small.
Clean bedrooms. At a time when there were media stories about a bed bug epidemic in Paris there was no evidence of this at the hotel. Good location 5 min walk from Gare du Nord. We booked 1 year in advance to go to the Rugby World Cup so we had a great rate including a simple breakfast. Only €72 per night. Wouldn't have expected to pay much more for this standard of hotel. We were there in a warm October. Every room had an electric fan but I imagine in a hot summer it could get uncomfortable.
