Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We booked an apartment and it was clean and modern. It was very spacious and it had a nice terrace. The hotel has a nice wine cellar and a large garden. Wi-Fi was working fine.

United KingdomNothing - everything was very good (or better).
We had a 1-night stop-over at this accommodation on our journey north to Eurotunnel. It was easy and convenient for travel on the A6, and had an excellent location alongside the canal - great for a very scenic walk (with our dog) along the towpath, with view of a spectacular castle on the opposite hillside. Maxim who greeted us when we arrived was very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom was very well-appointed, spacious and comfortable, although there were not any soaps, etc. provided. The adjacent restaurant (separately owned) was of a very high quality for dinner. Due to our need for an early start, we didn't have the breakfast offered by the accommodation. Everything had a "feel good factor" about it. We would definitely be very happy to return or recommend to others - possibly for a little longer to explore the surrounding area, or in the spring or summer when more outdoor options are available.

What a wonderful location! Stunning walks around the place. We had a massive room over two floors which was incredible for the price. Next door is a fantastic restaurant which shouldn’t be missed.

FranceCan't think of anything.
Beautiful location by the side of a canal in a quiet and rural village and views to a chateau on the hill. The building is gorgeous and has clearly been lovingly restored by the owners, our room was simple and elegant and the walk-in shower was fabulous. The owner was very welcoming and the overall atmosphere was very relaxed and relaxing. Lovely breakfast and there is a fantastic restaurant next to the property.

United KingdomThe hotel apartment is a 17th century attic loft space, beautifully preserved. The area was clean, comfortable and very large offering excellent value. The location of this accommodation is stunningly beautiful in the centre of a small traditional french village on a canal with accessible tow path. Located at the door step of the hotel is a wonderful restaurant serving high quality food locally and seasonally sourced. The hotel staff were friendly, most helpful and relaxed. Breakfast was plentiful including fresh coffee and homemade crepes. We plan to return as this was such a delightful find. Good stopping place if travelling through France, 4.5 hrs from Calias.

FranceThere are short but steep steps in our apartment so let them know if you are with elderly people who have trouble with stairs and they will put you in one of the other apartments.
Lovely refurbished building set beside the Canal de Bourgogne. We stayed in the top, two (semi open-plan) bedroomed appartement which was built into the loft. Beautiful exposed beams, kitchen area, dining space and two double bedrooms separated by screens and furniture rather than walls. Was an ideal atmosphere for a stop-over and relaxing evening on our journey to the UK.

United KingdomBit of a strange one here as we actually stopped at a different property, adjacent to this one. There was an issue with the room, which we were made aware of prior to arrival. The communications were timely and clear and the property organised alternative accommodation 200m away, even dealing with payment as the other property did not accept card payments. So whilst this review is not about the property it is about how they dealt with an issue and removed all the headaches and stress, resolving an unforeseen issue with the minimum of fuss. It is easy to be good when everything is okay but you see how good people really are when they have problems. Based on that then I cannot say anything more than thank you for how you handled adversity.

SwitzerlandWe arrived at 16:00 and everything was closed. No staff, no guest. We had to ask the neighbour if we were at the right place. After 15 min walking around the property trying to find somebody, a friendly man showed up opened the door and then told us the room was not ready, we should wait for 5 minutes. The 5 minute turned out to be 30 minutes. He did provide us coffee while waiting. Eventuelly we could check in to the room at almost 17:00.
The apt is very spacious and stylish. Personnel are friendly. Free parking. The location was good for us who just need an overnight stay while passing throught

NetherlandsVery nice big suite in a very quiet village on the Bourgogne canal. The wine region - which we came for - was still a 30 minute drive away (on beautiful roads), but tasting could also be done right at the domaine. Just a couple of minutes away, Chateauneuf is a stunningly beautiful medieval town with a castle and exceptional views. The kids loved the jaccuzi, we loved having our own sleeping area.
